Chainmail anyone? 8D

So some friends from school and I were looking at making CHAINMAIL.

I totally want to use this for something awesome or other, suggestions?

What they did on Monty Python and the Holy Grail was knit it all out of wool and spray paint it because they were so low on budget xD

That looks quite cool, a really novel way to do a chainmail shirt. But would need LOTS of tabs...

I helped a guy make a proper one once with spring steel he bought. You can buy it pre-cut to the right as rings in offset positions, and then you just need a couple of pairs of pliers, and a whole whole lotta patience..

I have a friend at school who is making a chainmail shirt as part of a full suit of armour he's making (he wouldn't admit it until I told him I cosplay, why would someone be embarrassed about such a cool thing?), I was going to say good luck and warn you about the sheer weight of it but this method looks way more sane and lighter

A girl in the anime club I used to belong to did that, I remember her sitting there watching anime while putting (Real) chain links together with a pair of pliers. Chainmail anyone? 8D 132820

I'm probably a bit late posting on this, but I made one for a friend a few months ago out of alkathene pipe.

Basically all I did was cut of alot of rings at about 0.5-0.75cm, primed the rings with a can of car paint primer, then spayed the rings with silver paint and finally coated with with a high-gloss sray.

I then made a slit in each ring after than and when I assembled it, I closed the rings up with a dab of glue from the hot glue gun.

The end result was just as effective, but very light-weight.

And very similar to what was done on LotR before the new method was developed ;) Instead of painting they electroplated it though ;) I got my hands on some, very cool stuff :)

Wow, that must have taken a lot of patience! Neat :)

One of my friends in the States made chainmail jewelry, looks really cool. There's a good book at my local library on the patterns and techniques, just wish I had the time *too much sewing*

It was actually a nice change. Life's thrown me in a bit of a rut at the moment, and my painting for time-out is wasn't (and isn't) cutting it. But in all honesty I found it monotonous.

I didn't realise they did the same on LotR... I just thought that was the cheapest way to make a chainmail shirt.
