Giant Paintbrush!

I am cosplaying as Amulet Spade at armageddon this year and thinking of making her giant paintbrush...

So... How would one go about making a giant paintbrush?

I have been suggested using a mop... But I'm not sure where to find one and how I would get the "brush" end to stick together and not flop around. Plus it would be quite heavy. >.<''

I also like the idea of making a giant plushie version of the brush... But would this be quite heavy also? Hard to make? Still dangerous to carry around? I would probably also need a lot of stuffing to get it to stand up the right way...

Are there any other ways I could go about making the giant paintbrush?

i usually find that props are easier to make the bigger they are... i assume this would go for making a plushie brush, too. plus, the pattern wouldn't be too taxing and it'd be easy transportable, which is a plus? C':

A wire skeleton would help it keep its shape I imagine, as well as allowing you to bend it if you wanted~

Umm, when we were making our ~~pedo~~ pikachu costumes, we used A LOT of stuff for it to be the right kind of shape. Giant plushie could double as a convienent pillow too, though a shiny-er one would look better.

...and would shiny material for the "stick" part make up for the "shiny-er"-ness part? >.<'' (I have a feeling this will could be the most expensive part of my costume.)

XD My tail was squished many, many times. By complete strangers. With no warning. Sometimes for five minute before I noticed. They were very useful though, as we go tired and simply sat on them (YAY FOR COMFORTABILTY:D)
Dunno, we had a huge bag of it already, probably would be ;P
Yeah, a nice shiny one would, but I keep on think staining it to make it look more woody would be a good effect, but don't listen to me.

Eheh, hmm. Scanning this thread, making a plushie seems like the best idea, and yes, the shiny material for the handle bit would make it look better on the whole, I think. Are you going to have the rainbow-y bits of colour at the end of the brush? That would look quite cool. (Or even just blue bits.)
C: However, unless you use pretty hard wire (as in, coat hanger wire.), it will most likely flop EVERYWHERE. (we attached our tails to our hair since we only used very light wire and they were falling everywhere=Painful, but kept them up. I don't think you want to attach your paintbrush to your head, though. xD) However, the wire is in it isn't as comfortable to sit on. ^^' It'll be pretty hard to keep it straight.

Yes, I'm cosplaying. I still am deciding what to be whilst she's Pika. Either Ash, Snorlax or ...I don't know. Maybe Alice in Wonderland, if I can't be stuffed making an extra cosplay. : P So you know to watch out. Although, you know. I'll probably run up to you first and ask for a hug. xD

If you use a mop, you could use a lot of pva glue to hold it together for that 'brush' look~
