Pikachu's red cheeks By Cactiberry. 11/08/09, 05:52 am |
| Alright. For the monday of 'geddon i'm cosplaying as Pikachu (and at a cosplaying photoshoot <3), and i'd like to know two things: 1. Should I even bother drawing them? 2. What should I use to draw them on my face? I'd like to use something that would last pretty much all of the day, because I don't want to be reapply it every fifteen minutes at 'geddon.
Advice plz? |

| I personally would use red lipstick as eyeliner would rub/sweat off easily (unless you can find a quality liquid red eyeliner), facepaint cracks and rubs off but if you use a lipstick which claims to have colourstay properties (ie most revlon lipsticks) or to be kiss proof, it means it and the stuff is a pain to get off, it will stay on for the day though (the stuff costs around $30+ for the quality you would need, cost could be a problem). Just my contribution, hope it helps (knowlege from having to play Harlequin in Coppelia the ballet, stage lights+needing circles on cheeks resulted in experimentation for the best stayablilty) |

| red lipstick might also rub off or at least smudge though, unless you get the really good quality smudgeproof ones, so... with eyeliner i find spraying hairspray over it prevents it from rubbing off too fast. /too cheap for actual makeup sealant. this might work with lipstick as well, but i've not tried that yet :'D
instead of having actual red cheeks you could also substitute red hairclips at around the cheek area, depending on the hairstyle planned for it. :'D /doesn't really remember your hairstyles. >< this is what i'm going to be doing when i do pikachu eventually, and if i remember correctly, Tammy did this as well last year, but only on one side? |

| Mkay, thank you! I might forget the cheeks entirely - i'll have ears by 'geddon and the shoot so I'll be pretty recognizable already. |

lipstick is a good idea. or you can get professional bodypaint that shouldn't run or crack. (: |

Re: Pikachu's red cheeks By Tamoo. 11/08/09, 03:15 pm |
| I've tried three ways to interpret Pikachu's red cheeks each time I wore my pikachu costume. I used red lipstick on the apples of my cheeks the first time - it was horrible and kept smudging. The second time I just used red clips next to my cheeks and kept my cheeks clear.
- Spoiler:
And the last time, I just used heaps of blusher. link to a picture haha
I personally preferred the red clips only version.
I find that cosplays are more appealing if you have clear skin and have the makeup centering on your eyes to make them brighter instead of having something (like bright red cheek marks) obstructing one's line of focus. But whatever floats your boat I guess. |

| Personally, I loved Tammy's Wellygeddon Pikachu, with the blusher. I think it worked very well for Gijinka Pikachu.
...And she looked so damn pretty all day D8 |

| DeiDei can apply the blusher for youuuuuuu But if you apply too much you'll look like a clown >_< It would be good if you had a natural blush~
and I don't mean Maddi having to slap you >_<</FONT></FONT> |
