Persona 3 - Difficulty Curve Issues?

Okay, now I'm a little pissed.

I just advanced to the second block of Tatarus, and suddenly, I am getting raped. The last...four, maybe 5 consequetive attempts I have made to climb the tower further (you know, a standard run of Tatarus), I have gotten owned. Suddenly, monsters are spawning in sets of four, and they are spamming AOE spells that are killing the Main Character in a single turn (resulting in a game over).

All I can say is what the physics.

I guess I may be underleveled. I'll do a lower level run, see if I can level up a little.

oh dear.
Persona killed me a little bit too.
i did a lot of running back and forth to level up.
never found a better way i'm afraid. D:

You've gotta pump a few floors, get levelled up, then tackle the next set.

Rinse; repeat.

Whatever you think is a suitable level is probably roughly ten levels too low.

This game pretty much involves a hell of a lot of grinding, and even so, sometimes you still get owned due to bad luck/critical hits downing your characters etc.
When I played, I liked to get the new section of Tartarus after a full moon out of the way in a single night, and this pretty much involved 4-6 hour slots of straight gameplay in the dungeons, grinding, grinding, and grinding some more.

Persona fusing may help too. I spent so long in the damn Velvet Room, the tune playing in the background makes me want to curl up and die.
But chyeah. Stronger personae = stronger attacks = win.

Actually, I'm having similar trouble in Persona 4. 8D

And I'm only in the second dungeon. Basically, occasionally I'll be faced with like, THREE Phantom Mage monsters. And basically, they'll spam all their magic like Maragi, Mazio, Garula etc. and hit my people's weaknesses, allowing them MORE turns to completely wipe out my characters. ._______.;;

@Admin: Generally if you can find their elemental weakness, you can wipe them all out before they get a chance to attack. Though, if your level is low they will get first turn and then there's not a lot you can do -- except have MC equipped with a persona that isn't weak against whatever spells they use. That way you have a fighting chance, you can get MC to heal and hopefully salvage a win with your other characters.
However I think the particular enemy you're on about doesn't have any weaknesses. ^^;;

It all depends on what persona you have available, and whether or not you use direct commands for your other players.

I scaled 20 floors without getting tired at level 15. Went from floor 15 to floor 35, or 36, no problems.

x) You'll get the hang of it eventually. Just watch out for reaper-san. He will pwn you/
