Need to learn to dance for the ball?
Post By Guest. 29/07/09, 02:34 am

The university rec center is running a class called MegaDanz - it's a dance themed aerobic exercise class. I went for the first time last night and it was SO FUN. In a "I'm so glad noone I know is here watching me make an idiot of myself" kind of way.
But we learnt some salsa stuff and some hiphop stuff and this awesome dance thats a combo of a haka, a hula and the strange thing MC Hammer used to do with wiggling sidewise with his knees going in and out at high speed. SO FUN.
The lady stood up the front and walked us through the tricky bits first - like what "mamba" means and how to "samba" and then turned on the music and bellowed instructions over it. And half the class goes left instead of right, and half the class is ahead and half's behind and we're all giggling ourselves silly. It's the most fun I've had exercising pretty much EVER Very Happy. Ok, maybe the pool training day at karate was more fun... Maybe.

It's kinda steep if you're not a Vic student, but if you are, it's something like $60 for the year of classes, and the classes run three or four times a week.

Very Happy

...I want to go. Like, REALLY want to go! What are the exact prices for non-students? And can you pay as you go, or is it in blocks of several weeks or something?

Youch, pretty steep for non-students. The university subsidises the university students to go though. You'd only need the "Group exercise" option.

And oh, MegaDanz is only on twice a week. But it's really packed, so they might throw in a few more sessions if it stays packed. But the rest of the classes are great too - my target is 4/week but I'm failing miserably at the moment. sad
