Cosplay muscles O_O By Rolly. 04/07/09, 07:57 am |
| Well, I bought myself an issue of COSMODE when I was in Taiwan at the beginning of the year, and I finally got around to reading it two night ago.
On the first night, looking through the photoshoots, 90% of the cross/cosplayers were female.... lol.
On the second night..... there was a section on 'cosplay muscles'. O_O
It taught you exercises you could do to strengthen or get muscle on your legs and wait, and arms, etc... and then at the end of the section there was a few pictures on putting the hard work into use. Which was, posing correctly. They had a cosplayer cosplaying some martial arts character. They pointed out several places you would need to play attention to to give a pose that made you look strong and martial-artsy. It was really interesting. I never thought much about muscles, unless you were playing a real musclely character.... but heck, this was really interesting. It made me think how much work these Japanese cosplayers put into their passion... wow, just wow.
I was really impressed but the amount of useful information a cosplayer would need.
There was also a section on 'Show us the contents of your bag!' A cosplayer had super glue..... hahahah. XD There was a caption saying: "what a weird cosplayer!"
Err... discuss? |

Err... discuss? I have yet to go to a cosplay event without my mini hot-glue gun in my bag. And I have used it each and every time. SOMETHING is bound to fall off, if not me, then one of my party or a friend. It's a perfectly reasonable thing to take!
I'm not sure about the muscles thing. You CAN make an individual muscle more toned by working it out, sure. But it's not gonna make a blind bit of difference unless you're reasonably skinny to start with. You can't tone a muscle well enough that it will stand out through a thick layer of fat!!
But posing... now that is something I'm interested in. I'm terrible at posing, I never get ANY good photos of me out an event. Very interested.... |

| Upon further inspection, the exercises are actually for training up the muscles you don't usually use so much, but will use a lot when a con comes around.
In short, it's like an anti-muscle hurting exercise thing. So when the con does come around, your legs won't be in pain the next day. 8D
Includes leg exercises and hips exercises..... I'll be trying these out! \o/ |

| -considers- But would you need to hold a pose for that long? It is an intruiging idea though. |

| Well, in Japan, cosplay is so much more developed there... so... you might need to hold onto a single pose for some time while everyone takes photos... but iono. *shrugs* |

| Wow really specific exercises. Surely one should just do that all the time any way. I would like to know what exercises they suggest though. |
