About hairspray... By HikaruxKaoru. 19/09/12, 03:36 pm |
| I've used hairspray for a wig once- and after I put it on I difficulties breathing. Does anyone have this problem too? Maybe I'm too sensitive to hairspray or something. Is hair gel a better option?

| Hair gel won't work on wigs, as it maintains its hold by reacting with the chemicals in your hair-- chemicals which aren't present in the plastic wigs're made of.
The best solution for wigs is to spray them a few days before whatever you need them for, so they're not so hard to breathe the air around, and if you need to do any touch ups to the style while you're wearing them, get a friend to spray while you cover your mouth/nose! There's nothing much else you can use for styling wigs, so you'll just have to take those steps to try and minimize how much spray you're breathing. =) |

| Thanks a lot- I've tried using gel in the pat and it never worked. Now I know why.

| It may also help if you haz a heat resistant wig and you're styling it with hairspray, blow dry it afterwards and it becomes rock solid and stays that way :3 Worked wonders on my Demyx wig :)

I never thought of that! After being rock solid can I still wash it out? |

| You should be able to wash out the hair spray in cold or warm water. Use a mild soap if you really need to.
And if you need to straighten curvy wigs then you can try using warm water, but how hot depends on the fibre. Nylon party wigs be very careful, just hot tap water (50-60 degrees.) Kanelon is more like 80 degrees to work . But higher quality Kanelon may stand hotter water. And this is all from memory, check this online.
Also Hikaru if Pyro's suggestion is still not good enough you can always wear a cheap mask while using the spray. Any hardware shop or safety shop will have them. |
