Birdcage By Grassangel. 16/05/09, 06:08 pm |
| Okay, so I've made a Tanpopo for an eventual cosplay of Himawari from xxxHOLiC. I'm going to make another one, so I'll eventually have two. Now, I wanted to have something stylish to keep them in and prevent them from getting damaged when not in use/something to carry them around in when I do use them. A small, round, dome-shaped birdcage seemed to be the answer. (You know, a stereotypical cartoon birdcage.)
Except I've been haunting TradeMe for a couple of months and either all the cages are too big/the wrong shape or they're about $80, which is a bit too pricy for me and I'd rather get a wig with that money. If I do have to get one off TradeMe I'm still going to be making a swinging perch and a standing one out of wire, dowel and chain. But I'll give making one a try.
So, any ideas on how I might go about constructing one? The maximum dimensions I'd want are about 30cm in diameter and 45cm in height. I do have a wire basket lying around that I might scavenge/use as a base but it's about 15-20cm in diameter and a bit small.
Should I attempt to make fancy patterns with the wire? What wire should I use/what other materials sounds like a good idea? Is the ability to solder going to help me? |
