So. I thought it was about time the forums had a topic about the most amazing Square RPG of all time, which was finally released into PAL regions recently on the good ol' DS.

Anyways...Chrono Trigger is a console role-playing game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995. The game's story follows a group of adventurers who travel through time to prevent a global catastrophe.

Chrono Trigger's development team included three designers that Square dubbed the "Dream Team", consisting of Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of the Final Fantasy series, and Yuuji Horii and Akira Toriyama—two freelance designers known for their work on Enix's Dragon Quest series. Kazuhiko Aoki produced the game. Masato Kato wrote most of the plot, while composer Yasunori Mitsuda scored most of the game before falling ill and deferring remaining tracks to Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu.

I've played it!
I have I have

About 20 times over, about 60% of those times being a New Game+

It has epic storyness, and I just love screwing around with history.
Always enjoyed seeing the strange effects that some things could have on a timeline

So I herd you just finished it then ;)

Got it. I feel that it's like FFVII: overrated. Everyone rants about how it's one of the best games of all time and I just don't see it. =X
Still, it's not half bad.

Yeah, finally. After 2 years of procrastination. xD

The new translation in the DS version is pretty good. Though, aside from that, there hasn't been too much added, which kinda sucks
I don't understand the new monster fighting thing much at all though D:

Screwing with time owns.
I love how you can get something out of the chest in the future. Go back and get it again and again.

Have you unlocked all the endings?

Currently no, I've only played DS version once through, emulators ftw... >8D

You brought it back n_n lost the game in a computer Crash and can't thank you enough for being the game back..

Love it how the main character never spoke, didn't notice until half-way through the game..
and thought '' Wait a moment, has Chrono spoken yet '' ?!? O__0

Also love how you can get a different ending depending on what time you end into the final portal, some of the endings were either really good & happy, or really sad or really just plan - random .. remember vaguely hearing about this ending you could get where all the main characters turn into dinosaurs 0__0

Don't wait to spoil anything but always make Marle climb the dangerous mountain Lavi might catch on, but lets just say the storyline creates a emotional optional choice and can't bare to take the other option.. otherwise would cry ..

Also loved the music like the second boss theme and the music that played during the Dinosaur's main lair it was quite freaky but cool. Also loved 'Techs' how the characters could team up a perform a special move together like Marle could cast a magical ice spell and then Chrono would zip around it and then break the ice spell in half with his sword and making the ice shatter on the enemy's head.

Usually in a RPG there seems to be at least one or two characters that just end up rubbing you the wrong way. Like Cait Sith in FF VII not many people ended up liking him because of the whole 'Keystone Tragedy ' but all of the characters in Chrono Trigger were really awesome.

Chrono is just a amazing main character with his adorable pet orange cat =3
Marle was just a bundle of energy despite her falling relationship with her father.
Frog is just a Chrono Trigger version of Cloud Strife that spoke/ speaks Shakespeare and is a rather kind-hearted gentlemen and is his past and with his best friend was aww material
( Had to watch it several times ) '' Your such a Marshmallow '' .. best quote ever.
Robo is just plain cute and felt really sorry for him later in the game. Luca glad she's a intelligent female and doesn't have to act ditsy to impress. And she has purple hair !!

Ayla was strange but in a good way, loved how she was a strong and independent leader of her village and she was very strong in battle. And Magus brings out a few plot-twists..

Queen Zeal and Lavos were pretty epic.

The song '' We are going to party like it's 1999 '' by Prince always reminds me of this game.

Spoken too much , but this game is just really good !!

Some of the endings are rather nonsensical. The balloon one is pretty lol.
I love how Crono never says anything and yet the game makes you feel so much towards him. Frog is so cute towards Queen Leene, and I love his theme. Crono's cat is so awesome. His part of the ending is pretty funny.

AND YES. GOING INTO THE MOUNTAIN WITHOUT MARLE IS SUICIDE.

(I like how you can leave Robo in the past for 400 years to plant trees and he becomes a hero. AND how Lucca finds Serge in the ending. (the main character of Chrono Cross))

How do you get the Balloon ending ?? XD

Yes it's pretty amazing character development. It's kind of like Link from the Zelda series in earlier games, he never spoke a single word but his character was loved by many fans.

Frog was pretty nice to everybody, even Luca who had a slight fear of Frogs he didn't judge her any differently, which was nice ^_^

Oh lol Chrono's Cat scene in the ending was really shocking didn't expect it to happen at all..

Also believe that not going to the mountain is suicide unless you want to get a change in ending.. or you can't do it, because to be truthful it's not the most friendly mountain to climb -__-

Oh yeah, doesn't he offer to help Fiona's garden or something ??

Yeah I think so. He wears a little bonnet while hes planting the seeds. Which makes no sense xD.

I think its silly how they make the Masamune out to be the ultimate sword even though there are much better ones.
There are a few other holes in the plot too. I thought only 3 people could travel through time together. But theres that scene where everyone is camping in the forest.

Sadly I've never been hooked into this game, which means I've started it a few times but never finnished it =(.

Emulated it on PC, PSP and got it on DS but I've been trying to finnish other games before I start on this game. The problem there is cool new DS games keep coming out =/

Reno The game can be quite hard to start sometimes, and sometimes usually start and then stop sometime in the future, don't know why just end up stopping ..

Lavi Think the whole sword thing was just SE ripping- off Excalibur or showing their love towards the legend. Oh yeah, never noticed that. Maybe they all went together in 3's ?
Like a second party went after Chrono's main party. Don't know it's been a while...

sugar honey iced tea, I've played this game when it came out for the SNES originally...

And over and over and over again.

I've played the DS one too, 100% completed with all endings and extras.

This game is much too easy for me now though, even the new dungeons were a bit too easy for my liking.

BEST. GAME. EVER.

To be totally honest, CC didn't live up to my hype when it came out... But then again, I was expecting a game that was better, or at least on-par with CT...

The game itself (without looking at CT) was an awesome game though!

Yeah didn't like the look of Chrono Cross because it looked like the characters from CT were gone ...

And Chrono was replaced by Surge. Which was sad, because it can't be Chrono without Chrono.. T_T
