Ciel's hair colour
By Icarus. 25/04/09, 09:56 am |
| I know there's been another Ciel wig thread but what I wanna know is what colour is his hair colour?! TELL ME PPLS!! http://fc01.deviantart.com/fs40/f/2009/005/7/4/Ciel_by_prismadragonfly.jpg
yes it sounds like a stupid question, but I'm fighting with myself whether its dark blue or dark green, I swear it's greenish but I keep getting told its blue, gaaah (me colour blind? y/y?)
The closes I have found are these ones: - murky grey green - dark green - pine green (but the fringe isn't long enough) - dark blue
if I'm gonna get a wig from overseas, I might as well make sure it's perfect, right? Now post away peoples!! |

| I always thought his hair colour was a steely bluey grey.
Like this? |

| Rowan's the Ciel expert :) I've seen a few different versions, but the one that looks best is usually a steel-grey, slightly blue-toned. |

But yeah Ciel has like a BILLION different hair colours, its really inconsistent.
The anime version is a greeny black, and it varies between nearly black to gray to gray-blue to light blue in the artwork pics. I personally like the gray-bluey colour, so that's what I dyed my Ciel wig (it's really easy!) Have you seen the collection of Ciel ref pics on the cosplay.com thread? You can compare them all and pick the colour you like the best
The one Kotone has pointed out is really good. |

| I think it's more a bluey-grey tone. Like the one Kotone posted, but maybe a bit more blue?
Edit: Ciel's hair actually does look green-grey, but it just looks better cosplayed as blue-grey because it's hard to get the right shade of green-grey. So you can't go wrong with blue-grey <: |

| Thanks for all the advice guys, it's really helped me~~
so grey tinted with blue sounds like something on the safe side, I've got a white wig (brought an extra one by accident) I might dye it for Ciel just to save costs...
Rowan! Do you have any tips? I've seen the tutorials but I never dyed a wig before |

| I just followed the tutorials and it turned out fine. Mixing the dye is the hardest part, and it isn't too bad. It may take a bit of trial and error to get the colour you want (well it did for me anyway, but then I accidentally bought purple dye rather than blue at the beginning. My first attempt made the wig a pale lilac colour /facepalm/). The only trouble I had was with black dye. I dont know if it was just the brand of dye I bought, but you have to be very careful if using black to make sure it mixes with the alcohol - mine went all gloopy and spayed globs on. I ended up not needing much black though (I used gray and blue).
You can get the alcohol (Isypropyl I think) easy from Mitre 10, Placemakers etc easy, but you have to mix in 30% water.
Hrm, you could mix up the exact colour you want, or you could first make the wig gray and then add blue highlights (just my thoughts!).
You will need a wig head to put the wig on while spraying, and remeber that the dye with stain stuff, so wear gloves, and the wig head will get dyed unfortunately.
Oh and something else I found! You have to let it dry occassionlly before adding another layer of colour. Otherwise the dye just starts to drip off - although that does help give it highlights/layers of colour rather than being solid, which makes it more natural.
Good luck! It's actually a lot of fun, and not hard at all. EDIT: Oh I forgot to say, I started out with a silver/gray wig (the wisp from cosworx). |
