| I have to admit the movie is starting to sound better and better with all these trailers coming out and I really *hope* it's a decent movie, even if a lot of people really didn't like the cast, I guess time will tell |

| Love the photos! But man, the reviews.... admittedly Im not a fan of Rotten Tomatoes, but even AICN (Aint it Cool News) is giving it some bad reviews. And they're all about the fandoms. Still, Im gonna watch it and judge for myself. And if it doesn't work... well hey, we're cosplayers, lets make our own movie!
BTW Great Piece by Dante Basco. I would have totally picked asian characters. Methinks Ang should have the same energy, as that funny Chinese boy from those old Indiana Jones Movies. I think he was also in Goonies. |

Re: The Last Airbender By CamusCanDo. 02/07/10, 06:30 am |
| The reviews so far are baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad and don't show any signs of getting any better. With $150 million budget and another $120 million on marketing I almost feel sorry for Shyamalan.
Almost.
My favourite review so far is the io9 one: http://io9.com/5576076/m-night-shyamalan-finally-made-a-comedy
From all the other reviews this quote from the article seems to perfectly capture the concensus on the movie
"In the traditional hero's journey, the hero resists the call to adventure, before finally passing over the threshold into the dangerous but juicy fantasy world where he comes into his power. And this is what happens to you, the audience, as you watch The Last Airbender, only in reverse."
Still, I do reserve judgement for when I see it myself, and if anything the very very bad reviews have, if anything, worked in favour of the film in that my standard of the film is set so low that if it is somehow better than I am expecting I will walk away happy. If not, well, that's the good thing about having low standards, right? |

| This is looking bad. Even huge fans of the show that have a few good things to say about it (not many do btw), have just as many or more bad things too. ;-;
at least there are good things... ...

Re: The Last Airbender By Le_Saboteur. 02/07/10, 07:06 am |
| From the article linked above;
- Quote :
- The brilliance of Noah Ringer's performance cannot be understated — he
is the first performer ever to convince me utterly that he is standing in front of a greenscreen. Even when Ringer is filmed on location, in front of a real-life mountain, he still manages to create the impression that his surroundings have been keyed in, and he's actually in a studio somewhere. This is a huge, crucial factor in the way the movie makes fun of its own epic-ness Bahahaha, oh wow. |

Re: The Last Airbender By carnione. 03/07/10, 05:01 am |
| Seems like the infamous Dragonball movie (in terms of a movie remake [right word?] that has costumes reflecting what the original sorce actually WORE) but likely to be slightly better. (Can't be worse, right?)
Will allow myself to get (almost) completely excited (though, not with high expectations) as the good and bad things make it hard to discern if it'll be ok or not. Though the acting... will either make or break the movie. |

Don't worry what that crap site Rotten Tomatoes says. They are prone to give really bad movies high scores and good ones low scores. One of my favourite movies has gotten a 0 % from them... a ZERO. It's a terrible review place, really. |

Re: The Last Airbender By CamusCanDo. 03/07/10, 09:29 am |
| You do understand that RottenTomatoes is a site that collects reviews from more than one reviewer and that all reviewers are certified as film critics. Notable example is Roger Edbert. The man may not like video games but he's at least a respectable film critic. If you're not fond of RottenTomatoes then at least look at Metacritic and IMDB. |

| Most of my friends on livejournal who are big fans have been to see the movie and most of them thought it was bollocks. While they do say there are some fantastic things (apparently Sokka and Zuko are well acted) there's lots of crit for what they've done with Aang and the Avatar.
I hadn't planned to see it and I'm still thinking that wild horses couldn't drag me there, but if anyone goes and thinks it is fantastic I am pleased for you! :3 |

Everything that you've seen in the reviews is right, guys. I'm sorry. Its such a shame because the film could of been a huge hit and a success. The film got just a average rating of 2.8/10 which is dismal and one critic said "The Last Airbender is so outrageously bad it's a wonder it ever got before cameras" I still want to watch it....but I wont be impressed |

@ Madhatter. What's the vanishing map scene ? In the intro of Dragon-Wars they use a map to help explain stuffs. The most epic continuity fail.
