Hey guys I was taking a poke around for accomodation for auckgeddon and I found this

And i was wondering how many people would be interested in sharing a series of rooms so we out of towners have some where to stay that is close to geddon

It seems to be 20 per person for the dorms but im not sure how many dorms they have but if we can get enough beds for every one in the dorms then it will be 20 a night if not it may be a bit more

You do realise that your accomodation is 3km away from the con? I wouldn't really call that close if you're walking. :/

the best option i would think would be get somewhere in the CBD and get to the site by bus (get a day pass, take the bus as much as you like)

hmm the next thing is do your bus drivers have problems with people in costume on buses??

Not that I've found - we bused back from DO last year in costume. I was in Bianchi, Jen was in Kairi, Alex was in Dark, and Angie was in Hanatarou. You might get asked WHY you're in costume, but that's really no different from anywhere else.

mmm lol i dont know ... i had an awesome stay at nomads in wellington so im just going to assume the one in auckland is just as good though they DONT have 20 bed dorms they do have 10 bed dorms so you should book early 83

I was up in Auckland earlier this year and stayed at Base Backpackers. Love Love Loved it (great people, clean rooms, friendly environment. Toliets were occasionally lacking paper, but you could always find some...) and will certianly be staying there again when I come up for DO and Auckgeddon. I was staying in what they call the "Sanctuary" or something... an all girl's floor.

I've also stayed at "The Fat Camel", not bad, but not the best. I was happy to only be there a night. That was about 2 years ago though.

I was up in Base ACB last year for Auckgeddon, I had some issues last year regarding rooms not getting ready for some people's arrivals (but considering it was an early morning check-in that might have been an issue) some randoms getting checked into our dorms when we had booked out all beds in our dorms to prevent that from happening and we didn't really like the fact the showers were push button operated.

We did appreciate the fact it was close to the Aotea Centre and was very cheap though. But I might consider a different place this year.
