Black Feathers

Anyone have any idea of places in Christchurch where I could find big black feathers for wings?

I know where to find smaller ones, but I need help finding the bigger ones for around the bottom.
By 'bigger', I mean about 15-20 cm long. ^^

for that length, maybe black swan feathers? any swan breeders in the area?

could always give the council a ring and see what someone says. depending on how many you need you might just be able to do some wandering in areas the council advises have black swans in and collect them up. ;p

Try searching around the Avon river, I've seen a couple of Black swans near where I live around by River road. whee

I'm not sure harvesting feathers from the Avon would give me quite the quantity I need, but thanks for the tip.

(Fun fact: it takes a good thousand feathers to do a single wing, many hundreds being the medium sized sort in the middle of the wing, and another hundred or so of the larger ones. And don't get me started on the down. xD)
