Meh. I only discovered his wonderfulness two/three years back.. gonk

and he's already gone!

His voice is absolutely 'mazing. My favourite of his is "Pink Cloud Assembly" ~ RIP hide.

he didnt kill himself perposely though
i'll give you reasons on why hes epic.

*he has a huge following from xjapan and
his solo project 'hide your face' and that shows from the museum he had which was shown in japan with his guitar and everything >< and til this day a memorial summit still gets held for him with some of the best visual kei bands to date featuring on the lineup.

*he was very talented due to the fact that he played guitar, bass and did lead vocals and songwriting for his solo project and i think he even erected a music production company, dont know where though.

*he was part of one of the biggest subculture movements to this day which is "visual kei". some part of me makes me assume that the subculture 'emo' is just a english attempt at this but it might also not be.

also it states from wikipedia the details of his death which was accidental, not a stunt *copied just becuse i cant be bothered explaining, too long*

"Hideto Matsumoto died on May 2, 1998. After a night out drinking, he was found hanged with a towel tied to a doorknob in his Tokyo apartment. Three fans died in copycat suicides, of the 50,000 people who attended his funeral in Tsukiji Hongan-ji nearly 60 were hospitalized and about 200 received medical treatment in first aid tents. Later that month, the single "Pink Spider" was released, entering the Oricon charts at number one. The song would also receive that year's MTV Video Music Award in the category ,Japan Viewers Choice"

and as stupid as klutzy as it sounds:
"While authorities deemed Matsumoto's death a suicide, several of Hide's friends and colleagues stated that they believed it to be an accident, among them X Japan co-founder Yoshiki and former X Japan bassist Taiji. This notion is supported by the fact that no suicide note was left and Sawada theorizes in his autobiography, that at the night of his death, Hide may have been practicing a technique to relieve upper back and neck pains which guitarists can suffer from continuous use of a shoulder strap. The technique involved was practiced by the X Japan members during their touring days and required the use of a towel and a door knob or handle. According to Sawada, Matsumoto may have fallen asleep in his intoxicated state, becoming caught and strangling himself.^"

I hate it how they compare his death to Kurt Cobain ! It's not the same.

That sounds similar to Michael Hutchence's death.

But, I dunno -- I'm not really a fan of hide or X Japan, really. Not my scene.
They seemed too hyped to me, like OMFG I LIEK JAPANESE MUSIC SO I HAVE TO LIEK HIDE AND X JAPAN. Yeah, I dunno~ I always like, get the bash for saying I like some Japanese music but then not X Japan etc D:

everyone like different music, so be it.

some people like more metal or decora wise kei and find xjapan
too normal or something. i just think that their songs are set in stone epic and
reinforced by the fact that they are now japan power ballads.

i mean some people like screamo from the emo subculture but alas the original culture was punk or even rock. but some people dont like guns and roses or the sex pistols

everyone is different. this should be acknowleged. not used as a weapon of social destruction
