Feathers?

I'm pretty sure this is in the right place, so here goes:

Where can you buy white feathers from, in enough quantity to make wings? I'm sure there are other people here who have or are making wings, so where do you get your feathers from?

Cheap and nasty feather boas at the 2 dollar shops in wellington, or maybe costume shops? Rip all the feathers out, might be cheaper than buying feathers seperately if they are are right kind of feathers.

Trademe, is always good for a look.

You can also use alternatives to feathers - I saw an amazing pair cut out of craft foam. Of course, then the trouble would be finding big enough sheets of craft foam! >_<;;

You could also get creative with netting and organza, depends on the look you're aiming for - but fallen angel wings would look really nice made out of that, all ripped and tattered. chuu~!

Spotlight = bad for finding feathers for wings from.

I went there last week to find some for my next costume... AND THEY ONLY HAD LIKE, TWO PACKS OF WHITE.

GEEZ.

It's like white feathers have gone out of fashion or something!

Anyway, I'd try a craft store. That's where I ended up getting mine. ;D

Yeah Spotlight is good for some stuff, but not so much for others (wait, what are you talking about Rowan? You're always complaining about the selection Spotlight has!) lol but I will try there as there isn't much variety of places like that, at least that I've been able to find. hmm maybe I should start a thread where ppl can list good places to get supplies for cosplay from? EDIT: I see someone already had that idea for Christchurch

And ummm the costume I'm doing is Cain from Trinity Blood, but not the massive anime wings. Instead I'm doing the artbook ones, which are six smallish wings.

Hands, if you're in Christchurch, is a good place- where I got mine. Only thing is that I kinda bought all the white feathers there...

If you're in auckland, on saturday we bought a WHOLE lot of feathers for Jen and Val's (AWESOME) feathered wings from Arthur's Emporium. It's on the same street as Spotlight at the Manukau Super Centre - Cavendish Drive. It's pretty close to spotlight actually. :3 They've got awesome prices too~

There's also someone going to Auckgeddon as Abel this year which will be really cool.

Yeah - it's $4 a bag for nice small fluffy feathers, or $1 each for bigish tatty feathers at Arthur's Emporium. :)
