No clue if this is feasable... Chat?

Okay, on the Contact Juggling forum I go onto, there's a little chat thing where you log in with your forum username and password, and you can create rooms, or you can just go into general chat.
I know nothing of coding, so I don't know how hard it'd be, but it's just a cool feature ;D

Forumotion dose have a sort of chat box but you cant make your own room, as what would be the point in the forums if it was conected to a chat room.
Anyways the chat BOX that has came & gone then came again & gone again was never really used much ok it wasn't used at all maybe a few posts perday.

I no longer keep up with what forumotion has added but i dont think this feature has changed from a Box to a room lol..

EDIT- coding i dont think can be used on these forums as i think everything just go's through features that forumotion add

Yea, its been and gone several times, as Saiko said.

Always a big hit for about a week, then it just drops off.

Me and Korona Korm spent ages advertising it in the forum games as part of the games to get more people on... It was fun.

The chatbox was pretty useless. It was also annoying and took up bandwidth, etc. We already have the forums itself - I think if you want to chat, its best to just take it up with PMs or MSN.

Yeah, it was nice, but not really used. Too many people frequent the forum at different hours. We did only 'just' set the new 36 people online record last night... and that was up from 33 back in umm. Nov-08 ?

On another tangent though, how scalable is the chatbox/pm system? one on one/invite chats via the site could be handy. Organising stuff but without being able to jump on MSN or something would be quite handy, although I'd hazard forumotion doesn't have any infrastructure in place for that kinda setup. sad

PM's are Ok, but not exactly realtime. lol.

Easier way would to just have a shoutbox on the forum that's linked to a IRC server.

Other than that, just to make a separate IRC channel for CNZ. (Which isn't hard to do at all).

Note: IRC is basically a very popular internet chat thing that a lot of people use. (Very easy to use too).
