Help with VINYL. Please! By Static. 01/03/09, 02:57 pm |
| Putting this here because it' not really critique, and not really a plug...
Okay - so I need pvc vinyl for a number of costumes, and you can't actually buy it in wellington anymore. I am greatly displeased by this, but it would appear that it is just tough sugar honey iced tea. I would really, really, really like somebody who knows (and I will resort to bribery, flattery even) to tell me WHERE in the country it can be bought and if they would be so kind (otherwise I will mission out if at all feasible) to grab some on my behalf and I will pay them for it, plus postage, plus probably a small offering of baked goods :)
I need wet-look vinyl in black, white and bright yellow, for Sailor Star Healer and Faye Valentine. 1m of the yellow and white, and probably about 3m black. This is the 4-way stretch wet-look PVC that everyone and their mums uses and suddenly is only available in duroseal-esque holographic horrible in pink and blue in Welly. Gross, dudes.
...also, thanks to Kotone I checked out the stuff at Arthur Toyes on Willis - they have white, but it isn't stretch, and thus my bootcovers will be that much harder. I would like to avoid using it if at all possible.
SO YEAH! Anybody feeling generous and kind=hearted, or simply craving baked goods? Many thanks in advance! |

| Hah, closest I know is in New Plymouth. I am talking about fabric though, not sheeting or anything - I want to sew with this stuff, not make a shield |

| The only places I know are in Palmerston North (Spotlight & Arthur Toyes).
I know Arthur Toyes has white, black & gold stretch vinyl, but I haven't seen any bright yellow stuff. but then again it's in Palmy, so if you're willing to travel 8D |

| Have you tried fabric warehouse?
I've not been myself, but apparently they stock things that Spotlight and AT don't. Like Pleather. WTF is up with this scarcity of Pleather?
And bootcovers do suck. You have my sympathy |

| Ugh. I just typd out a reply, went to change my avatar, came back and realised I forgot to hit 'send'. Fail...
Anyway. Kotone - bootcovers are waaaay easier if your fabric is super-stretchy. You might have to tape them to your soles, but that is why duct tape exists (in many colours!) and also you can't see it, so who cares?
And Icarus - THANKYOU!! I will try to grab some of my own before pheefing yours, but thankyouthankyouthankyou |

| (I was just thinking hahaha sucks to be you people who have to make boot covers, when I realised that I have to make some as well OTL. And I have to use cotton so it matches my jacket D: oh well, I guess interfacing is my friend.)
I've never actually seen PVC (or pleather!) in a shop ever! Then again, I guess I haven't really been looking for it... |
