Why do you like them ? ( Favourite Characters )

It's common for Otaku fans to have at least one or two favourite characters, or one character that they favour over the others, or even have a fangirly crush or a fanboyish man-crush on one of two of the characters from the Manga's that you read, and the anime that you watch..

But want to know. Why do you like the characters that you do, Why are your favourite characters, your favourite ?..

Is it because they look handsome or pretty, say awesomly epic stuff, dress in your favourite colour or style , or your not really sure why they strike your fancy and have no clue why..

Guess kind of like characters like Chrono, Dark, Cloud and Ino because they seem to wear purple like clothing, or have purple styled hair, so guess like them because of colour ?

And like characters like Itachi, Greil, Deidara, Ishida, Sasuke and more because they all have the dark and mysterious persona, and tend to go for the villian type and mistunderstood.

Oooh good question ^^
I almost always have a favourite character in any series/show/game/whatever etc.
Some series where none of the characters really stand out, I still pick a fav character cause... cause... iunno I can? =P

For me its usually their personality... though it varies! One one side I love the outgoing, never-give up attitude of say Naruto and Luffy, then on the other, I like the serious, quiet(ish) and/or brainiac type, like... hmm Yugi and Ishida.

Then again in some cases they are my favourite character because not so much their personality but their beliefs like Light, Soichiro (Light's father), and L (...lol wut... how does that work? They all believe in a different type of justice oO; ...)

Some characters I like cause they are strong-willed, then there are others that I like cause they are really weak, dumb and only there for comic relief (lol Krillin)

Its usually nothing to do with what they wear, if they have what I consider cool clothes/costumes then its just a bonus =P ...
As for what they look like... *thinks* hmm for guys... Sly

heh, maybe? I'm actually not sure.

I don't normally like bad characters, although, like you I like the ones that are bad for a good reason or misunderstood etc ^^ (teehee Zek)

So really, I dont know my answer, cause my favourites all vary... maybe it also depends on the type of show, the way they are portrayed, and how much you learn about them?

~ you know what though in horror/action moves where the characters die (yah so its not anime but I'll say this anyway) I always seem to pick the comic relief character, that ends up being the first to die, ITS SO ANNOYING.

I like the anti-heroes and the insane ones.

The anti-heroes like Vincent Law, Yuri Hyuga and Vincent Valentine appeal to me because of the fact they often feel very normal. The majority of them are lazy, rude or stuck up, and generally just don't want to do any heroics, like most people in the world. They just get dragged into things, and... Well, with characters like the aforementioned, usually end up doing everything the way any true hero would do it.

The anti-heroes show us that normals can be not-so-normals if coincidence lends its hand.

And insane characters...

Well, I like them because that's where I'm headed later on. ;D

The likes of Greil Sutcliff, Hojo, Agnus, Dr. Horrible and Lezard Valeth.

I also dig guys who wear cravats (Lezard Valeth, Lazard Deusericus-Shinra)

Because cravats are AWESOME.

I sat down to think about this, and I've realised that about 90% of my fav. characters are the bishies. The hot, girly-man, drool-worthy manly men of whatever series.
The other 10% are favoured for their bad-ass-ery or their amazing randomness!

CRAVATS ARE AWESOME.

I like characters that don't have annoying personalities/are really stupid (Tamaki has an excuss). Most of the main characters in really popular shows bug me. Like Naruto (I really can't stand him), Luffy etc.

I usually don't mind the hyper characters (Rock Lee! chuu~!

) But for some reason I just really don't like Naruto-sama. The sight of him makes me want to throw things.

I thought most people hated Naruto anyway... though half the reason maybe the "believe it"

Oh to add though, for me main or minor characters don't matter, as long as the minor has enough screen time to actually kinda know them.

Yeah I dont really like how girls are portrayed in most anime... I find the characters I do like are usually the strong-willed ones, or ones that actually have a personality =_=

Haha. Same with Black Star. He's annoying too. He thinks he's so great, etc. I don't mind him when he gets serious though. I like Kidd =3= He's hilarious.

I don't know why I like Subaru (Tokyo Babylon/X) so much. He's my favouritest character from anything <3 Maybe it's because he's so nice and adorable and you just want to squish him 8D

Other favourties include
Fai & Kurogane from Tsubasa - So much character devolpment <3
Nanashi from MAR - Because.... He's cool? xD
Train from Black Cat - He can stop hundreds of bullets with his gun.
Zolo - Three Swords. THREE.

& I agree with the 'not liking Naruto' thing >_> He annoys me so much ._. But I do love Haku~ Woot for the character that's only in about five episdoes.

Lol that is true, come to think of it I usually hate characters like that, so I'm not sure why I like Naruto and not other characters similar to him. Hmm. I dont know if they portay him differently, or if its his backstory or reactions with other charcters, wow no idea *ponderponder*

ya know, I really hated Rock Lee at the start, I thought here was another character that though he was awesome but really wasn't - and lol that fight with Gaara really proved that theory wrong lmao, and then when you learn about his background made him that much more awesome, oh and when he's drunk now thats just pure awesome right there lol.

Hrrm... 8D I tend to like the more insane characters, first and foremost- Belphegor, Giovanni, Grimmjow etc etc. (I seem to be able to relate to them a lot XD)

Then there are the slightly assertive/agressive characters- Gokudera, Suzumiya Haruhi <33

Bishies are awesome <333 but I won't like them if they have crappy personailties... Bleargh.

Oh. And twins. ANY pair of twins <3333333 LukiNoki, Hikaru'Kaoru, JasDebi, Suisei/Souseiseki, Shion/Mion are absolute loooooove <3333333

'Charming' characters rank pretty low on my favourites eg Tamaki. 83

Ohohoho~I also tend to like the less liked/misunderstood characters like Gin <333

I also seem to gravitate towards certain characters with ceratin appearances lol.
- Blonde, creepy grins, similar hairstyles- Belphegor, Shinji, Giovanni
-Redheads- Lavi, Cross, Badou, maka's father (name? 0_0) etc etc.
