People going up for Auckgeddon

Hey it may just be onto it way early but i was wondering about a few things:

Flying up
booked any tickets? if not when might you

Accommodation
has/is there gonna be accommodation been/going to be organized for people traveling up for the event?
is it in a backpackers?
where did you guys stay last year and how much was it ruffly?

transport
how did you get from place of staying to auckgeddon? bus/taxi~~/free lifts with people you know~~
is it everyone for themselves or go together?

sorry im just trying to figure out how much this is gonna cost me ^_^;
and im the kind of person who likes everything well in advance Razz

I'm traveling up from Wellington, and have already booked flights... It's a holiday weekend so already alot of people have bought seats- the sooner you book the cheaper as well.

Auckgeddon itself doesn't organize places to stay to the best of my knowladge. Most people either just stay somewhere by themselves or with friends (People on this forum might get together to book a room or two for example).
Last time I was in Auckland I stayed at a rather nice backpackers on Queen Street (and in an all-girls dorm)... think it was roughly $25 a night. Auckgeddon is in a different location this year, so my friends and I are planning to stay closer to the event but we'll have to pay a good bit extra I'm sure.

Transport: Depends on who you know, where you're staying ect. My friend Ally and I will go together cause we are rooming together, but unless we happen to know someone staying at the same place, we won't meet up with anyone until we are at Auckgeddon.
I'm sure if you are staying on Queen Street or something and don't know how to get out to the Arena someone here will be staying in the area and you can go together via bus.

My mates driving me up but we are gonna stay in a backpackers, seeing as how stressful the wellygeddon one was for alena, i dont wanna start a group XD unless its all small and all pay me in ADVANCE, since its cheaper with more people XD

I scored a free(ish, I'm paying for petrol hehe) lift up for geddon, but haven't sorted accomodation yet. I'm going to look into renting an apartment in town and split the cost, the extra space to get into costume will be freakin' AWESOME...I hate getting changed at the venue, it's a pain.

I've got plane tickets up there, my planes from palmy so it's costing me $264 (+ return)
(if you can get the plane from Wellington or Christchurch, it'll be WAY cheaper)

I'm sharing a hotel room with 4 others so thats costing me $66 for 2 nights.
And there's tons of free shuttles running from the airport to the area of the hotel I'm staying at
(the entire street is full of hotels/motels, and it's just down the road from the geddon avenue~~~!)

Oooooh, which establishment you staying at Icarus? I was thinking town would be better, but if I don't have to walk far to 'Geddon, that'll be AWESOME! XD laziness FTW?

If I can scrape together another huge chunk of cash, live through 11 more hours on the plane and get a decent price on accommodation, I'm really set to come back down for one more. :< I love these events and seeing everyone again/

Hehe, I'll look at how jobs go at the moment. My current one will only pay for a bit of the trip, so I'll try and see what I can start earning with more work. :3

no idea im looking into naked bus fares versus plane fares then accomodation it doesnt seem as though there are any hostels or anything close to arma

sorry about the late reply (didn't get an email alert on the topic -fail- )

THIS place, it's $120 a night/room for 1-2 people and $15 for anyone extra, we're having 5 people in a room and everyones got their own bed so it's pretty sweet.
(Kudos to Kyokyogirl for showing me the link~)

I was worried about leaving something at the hotel/being able to take dvds back to hotel in the middle of the day, yay for laziness~~

Haven't got anything sorted at all Dx. I'm gonna go joy applying soon, so I should be able to afford it 8D;;

Buuuut a free place to stay *is going to bug people until last possible moment *is shot** would be awesome xD. Armageddon sounds hard to get to this year Dx. Plus I'm going with no friends, so if I can't sort something out with people I know, then I won't come :/ *crosses fingers that all wsorks out though*

We usually bus up which is about $30 from Hams. But this year I think we will drive :3
Which may be more. But it's only an hour and a half drive, so eh.
As for accommodation we get a 6 bed dorm, and if there is more people than that we share beds haaaaah. It's yeah, about $25 a night and there is a $20 bond usually.
Put aside $45 for geddon tickets.
AND food. Is vair expensive. MAKE SURE you have coinage at geddon. But save like $100 for this. I'm not even kidding. X_X
And depending on how extreme you are, 100-300 for merchandise. Or more if you're some people.. haha.

Probably like a 10-20 minute walk? Judging on how long it took me to walk to school when I was 10 >__> Uhh, plus it depends on walking speed 8D. Actually, pay no attention to me. I have no idea how long that would take.

Yes im very worried about the food bill T.T maybe i'll live 2min noodles all weekend lol
^_^ and im fine when it comes to buying stuff, i spend like $30 on manga if im lucky lol

Yeah, that's what really hacks me off about 'geddon - $5 for a physics can of lift plus is obscene, I don't care what anybody says. In fact I'm going to go to extraordinary lengths to avoid buying any food at geddon this year...It's now a matter of my thrifty pride at stake!

$5 for a small bottle of coke at their canteen thing, and $3 from the Doiminos stall xDD.
Their overpriced food is the reason I only ate the free stuff on sunday (*survived on chocolate*).

Flying
We still haven't decided if I'll drive up with the Palmy cosplays, or fly up with mother.
If I do fly, I'll be booking sometime in the next month. Flights will be after 5pm on Friday sometime, and after 7pm on Monday sometime.

Accomadation
If Mother comes, I'll be spending Friday night with her at her friends, and (as of current) I'm free to stay where ever I want on the other two nights.
If Mother doesn't come, It'll be a hotel/people I know.
The Hotel we're looking at is the Same as Icarus and Static, The Ranfurly.

Transport
Again, if mother comes, she'll probably drop me off.
If she doesn't, walking or the bus are fine by me.
