Lust help!

Okay - I need help making my mind up on Lust's dress. The original design has her hem split up both side seams, as shown here:

But - this looks kind of silly in real life. The dress is really very forties - in keeping with 1940's fashion, the skirt would have a back split instead, which is far more flattering (particularly with this length of skirt - the length makes calves look HUGE!). SO - is it better to adhere strictly to the original design, or just go ahead with the executive decision to alter it a tiny bit, thus making it look better anyway?

Definitely modify the design to make it look the most flattering on you. :3 There's no point having a 100% accurate costume if it looks less than ideal. & really, no one's going to be scrutinising your splits, or comparing you directly to a reference picture - they'll be looking at the overall effect. In my opinion, a kick-ass costume beats 100% accuracy. :)

Hmmm in what way does it look silly? I've seen some pics on cosplay.com that seem to make it work (I say seem because I really have no idea >.< ).

But if it really does look bad, modifying it would be fine. I'm sure you'll look lovely either way :)

I've noticed that the forum eats posts it is has '>' or '<' in it. Like it will eat words after you type '<3'

It does seem to be after those symbols now that I think about it. It has happened quite often, it's rather strange.

Its because it mistakes it for coding, and trying to implement it. And now you know why i stay away from hearts on boards

well this design looks really flattering on lust herself...
so to make the cosplay properly would mean you have to also make it look really flattering on you!

Modify it, it'll be way better and no one will notice

I'd modify it, origonal anime/manga designs were made to look good on paper but not necissarily in real life anywho ^_^

Oh holy sugar honey iced tea, thread has been necro'd. I sorted it guys, lol, and some time ago! Kinda, anyway. May still need to chuck some boning in, but it wore okay at the ball.
