Favourite Genre?
By Rocky. 11/01/09, 11:06 pm |
| Okay, so we've done our favourite authors. Now, whats your favourite genre of books? Myself, I am a big sci-fi/fantasy geek, and I also love myths and all that. And I wont say no to a good piece of historical fiction. |

| Urban Fantasy - with a few notable exceptions I can't stand sword-and-scorcery fantasy. Seconded by horror/gothic/moody books, poetry and gritty historical fiction. I'm currently reading Azincourt by Bernard Cornwell - makes me want to learn the longbow. |

For some reason I can't stand sci-fi though.... (unless it's star trek on tv *_*) |

| Kind of like those real based life stories, where the main character goes through something really terrible and then comes through it by the end of the story and then becomes a stronger person.
Used to like Fantasy novels, but tend to be growing out of those stories now.. |

| Historical Fiction and Sci-fi, followed closely by Crime Novels c:
I'm really picky when it comes to Fantasy. Like lysistrata, I can't stand the whole swords/sorcery thing and I think I've only managed to get through one or two of those without being completely bored out of my mind ._. |

| I read almost exclusively in the fantasy genre (though occasionally, a horror story or a coming-of-age tale slips through my pickiness)
I have a hard time reading stuff where there's nothing in the way of demons, mages or general magicks. I have a huuuge weakness for shapeshifting tales, too. <3 |

No. When I say Romance, I do not mean Twilight.
But, everything else is predominantly fantasy and sci-fi. |

| I like a whole load of genres...it'd take less time to ask the ones I didn't like...but I'm something of an escapist when it comes to books-I like getting lost in a new and foreign world, so I tend to gravitate towards historical fiction, sci-fi and fantasy. |

| Hmmm this is almost a trick question i read and enjoy most genres and styles ranging from indepth physics and cosmology texts right through to the typical kids book (Kids books are amazing BTW) not however a fan of romantic fiction (unless its heavily satirical) and really can't get interested in biographies don't know why.... |

| If you want a good biography, read If Chins Could Kill by Bruce Campbell. It will probably blow your mind.
By far and away my favourite genre is fantasy. I'm a massive fantasy nerd, and probably 90% of the books I've read since I was 11 have been in the genre. I read a bit of sci fi and non fiction, too. I've also been known to read some horror and mystery novels on occasion. |
