Cloud?

This isn't actually a question for me, but i feel thats someones going to ask it (or already has and it buried).

With a Cloud cosplay, y'know how he's got the Shoulder paddy thing? and how at Arma you can't have metal? has anyone got a way around that, whilst keeping it shiny and metal like?

Metallic spray paint? I used that on my EMR for Reno it was shineh =P

Cardboard maybe but it won't last long.

Polyurethane seems to be pretty darn good.

I think Cloud's shoulder whatnots are sorta like armor right? (I've forgotten X_x) but if they are take a look at this http://entropyhouse.com/penwiper/costumes/helmsdeep.html it might help...

Hmmm, maybe this rule needs clarifying with Michaela. I was under the impression the rule was for no metal props - because making an entire costume with no metal is a ludicrous idea: eyelets, glasses, buckles galore...

A few years ago a guy down in Welly made a pauldron (the armour-y thing on his shoulder) by beating the crap out a spare side of a metal computer case.

You could make the shoulder armor by cutting it out of a big plastic bowl, and then spray paint it perhaps?

You might need to use some sort of undercoat to make the paint stick to the plastic, and a top coat of polyurethane would probably be a good idea too. And test out all the paint etc on a scrap piece of leftover plastic in case there are any weird chemical reactions.

If you could find a completely transparent plastic bowl, then that would be even better, because you could paint the inside of the bowl, and then the paint would show through to the outside, and the outside would be all shiny, and the paint wouldn't get scratched off.

And if you could find a plastic bowl in exactly the right colour then that would be even easier. But I don't know how likely that is.
