Is it taboo to do cosplay from slice of life type shows?

Im talking about the basic school girl type outfits. Is it just sort of weird to those kind of cosplays because they are maybe overdone or is it just fine? Am I overthinking this? Id just be interested in doing a kind of casual nichijou cosplay maybe.

There are no rules limiting what character you cosplay. You can pick any character you like.

If you expect to receive a lot of attention then picking a character who wears normal / simple clothes will not achieve that but cosplay should be about what you want, not what impresses other people.

After all, you're simply showing your love for the character or series of the thing you're cosplaying from. :)

There are as many reasons for cosplaying as there are characters :) I've seen these kinds of costumes get more attention than elaborate works because of fan reaction :) And then there are costume nerds who geek out over other stuff ;)

Do what you are comfortable with :) Never feel pressure to change what your groove is :)

Not at all, think about how many K-On! cosplays you see pictures of. SoL, especially KyoAni SoL shows are very, very cosplayed from. Nichijou seems to be cosplayed from less but I'd love to run into a Nichijou cosplayer at an Armageddon.
Honestly, people cosplay from r18 H-games and don't even get second glances, cosplay whatever you want as long as it's appropriate for where you're wearing it.
