Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei or Goodbye, Mr. Despair

This random anime filled with puns related to Japanese culture is one of my all time favourites manga and anime and you don't need to watch any of the episodes in order because each episode is based on episode basis =D

It is currently on the 3rd season and although this is a shonen anime (i.e. some panty shots) each of the characters are all unique with a pun in their name which relates to their eccentricity

e.g.

Kitsu Chiri = Perfectionist Busy-body who borders on Scary
Sekiutsu Tarou (some thing like "you sold your name") = illegal immigrant
Itoshiki Nozomu the sensei (when read in kanji vertically, read as zetsubou = despair) = super pessimestic and suicidal

I love this anime alot ... what do you peoples think or have you not watched it yet??

I saw some of it when I was in ChCh for the CCPC but haven't watched it properly yet. Looked quite random, but yeah, enjoyable. :)

It is so brilliant. The abusive text message girl is awesome. And the tail-collecting girl is awesome. And the bald guy is awesome. And the normal girl is ~~very normal~~ awesome. It is full of awesome.

Ahh, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is one of my all time faves also. I prefer the manga over the anime though. But the scanlations are non-existant-to-snail's-pace speed. GAH.

I've watched all of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, both seasons and the latest OVA ep. To be honest, I loved the first season, but the 2nd season kinda just went downhill in my opinion. I liked it when the series was just student of the week. But when they started ranting on and on about any given subject it began to get stale and repetitive.

Although I say that, my favourite moment of the series is actually in the 2nd season which is the most they decide to say pointless statements in a grandiose manner.

On that note, I'm....... TYPING THIS FROM MY HOME COMPUTER!

XD lol i actually was kind of iffy about the 2nd season when i first watched it though i admit i loved the first ending ... very dramatic

but i find the cultural puns entertaining XD
