Well then you can cosplay inside? You never know, might rain that day. I think most people would love to cosplay in the sun, it's not exactly unbearable :)

I think we should either have cosplay day in Spring or Autumn, when it's not too hot or cold (but with NZ weather, that doesn't quite work ...).

Mm. It sounds like a good idea.
But I feel that contacting newspapers and radio stations would be a bit much.
It sounds like an invite for others to ridicule and exploit our community. We would probably get more trolls and unwanted attention on the forums, etc.

What do I know though?

Point. Most of the people you see dressing up for sevens etc are pretty gaudy.

I agree with Tammy. Past experience = Some people are so snobby and do not like cosplay at all. I get sick of comments from 'popular' teenagers in town. The ones that dress 'in style', etc. They also diss Lolita and it annoys me (not that they are dissing Lolita, but that they are voicing their opinions to us directly and in a very rude way).

But everyone one knows about rugby, so you can't really compare it to that.

(sorry, just jumping in)

I think the 2nd weekend of January sounds great!
Cause everyones already made the picnic an annual event. (and now
they're thinking about having a ball instead of the picnic for
Wellington)

If we make it the 2nd weekend then we could celebrate it with a picnic/ball or whatever!

FYI: Auckland and Wellington Cosplay Picnics were on 26th January this year, and will probably be about the same next year. Why not make it the day of the picnics?

Yeah we could do that, save everyone making 2 cosplays. As much as I'd love to do that, I think a lot of people out there wouldn't have the time & money for both. So how about...January 20th? Very Happy

Hehe yeah I'm just trying to think of a date that would be easy to remember ^^ Everyone should just suggest a number, & the most popular date wins! Keeping in the range of 'middle of Januaryish' if people wanna colab it with the cosplay picnic :)

Yeah - how about a weekend, lol. XD I think either the 17th or the 24th of january (both saturdays) would be when we do the picnic, which we're probably gunna start organising very soon.

Yeah I was thinking that, hopefully because it's the holidays, most people could celebrate it that day every year & the date wont matter, I think if it's the 'X weekend of Jan' every year people will forget.
The first year we celebrate it, next year, probably should be on a weekend though, so more people will celebrate it & more likely to continue celebrating it, ya know? ^^

D.A.D is just for this year because Berry's going away (or something xD), and CHCHgeddon is in April.

March is cool, but it would be during school term, so it could be on a school day ... (And I have a uniform school :/ ... But that didn't stop two girls in my maths class wearing anime suits today xD. My maths teacher was SO mad xDDD).

Apparently that's Jan 11th for 2009.

That said while I was digging that info out apparently there's a solar eclipse on 26-Jan-09, unfortunately it's not visible from NZ. sad

Edit: apparently here's a list of the other full moons for 2009. No reason to suggest it I just think full moons are funky. :)
