So, I'm busy teaching myself how to program in Python right? So I had this neat idea.

'Hows about I write something that will make it easier for me to find new episodes of the currently airing animu I am watching?'

Been working on it for a few days now, and after many AERGGH moments, I have it all figured out. I wrote it for me, but if you guys want it too, I'll package it into an exe and upload it somewhere.

What happens is clickity click, then BOOM like magic firefox tabs open up looking for the newest episodes of Bleach, Clannad After Story, Kannagi, Tales of the Abyss, To Aru Majutsu no Index and Tytania. Its that simple. It looks at the date, figures out what the next ep is, and looks for it. Cool huh?

So yeah. if anyone wants it, let me know and I'll package it and upload. I can also add/remove shows with about 5 minutes of work, so I'll take requests within reason.

Anyone interested?

About 4, maybe 5. was worth it though, learn alot about how python works in general. If not, the 5 hours probably would have been spent sleeping. So there.

anyway, congrats~ :) I'm all up to date with the series I'm currently watching & new eps aren't being released (even if they were, I wouldn't be able to watch them because I would meant to be studying x_x). but - I will keep the offer in mind~

Personally, the word filters on here piss me off. I mean, it is essentially preventing accurate expression. Swear words have their place....I say, take of the word filters and start warning and temp-banning people who misuse them. Don't penalise everyone becuase some people are overly offensive.

Of course, thats why I'm not a mod. I just find it interesting that every forum ive ever used regularly (and moderated on no small number of them) have never needed wordfilters, but yet this one does.

We do have alot of younger members & if parents were to investigate about cosplay in New Zealand, i don't doubt they may stumble across here.

I mean really, I find the filters entertaining~

But meh, you're the first to complain.

Of course, I'm sure we'd look into it if there were alot of complaints, but most people are amused by the filters??

We were discussing this in a different completely unrelated thread a couple of days ago. I swear like a trooper, and I love it, but I'll be the first to admit that there are places it just is NOT appropriate. See, I cuss with a conscience Very Happy

I figure since there are young impressionable (haHA) minds about, swear filters aren't too bad. And it's not exactly a Big Brother-type intervention yet...

EDIT: freedom of expression is one thing, but there's no need to kick up a stink about it. Note I am not having a go at you, just don't think it's worth getting worked up over.

Nah it wont get deleted. That the thing though. Swearing is wordfiltered, but other than that very little moderation goes on at all. All or nothing, I reckon. But I'm not a mod, so my opinion doesn't really matter.

@Greg; Seriously, what? I don't like moderating these things, see I find everything okay. But I think you'll find Jess, Jen & Alex are quite critical of borderline posts. Not overly so, but they will look it over twice && maybe reword a few things if they see fit.
Of course, if I find something outwardly offensive I take it down too, as do the other mods.
Also, remember the first PM you got from me? Moderation of a kind was being executed.

Even I've had to take a few posts down or change, or pm, usually I dont intervene unless I really see the need or if none of the other mods have seen or dealt with the problem.

Anyway what I actually wanted to say was that I'm just gonna add to Duckehs points, (I know you've backed down, so this is just to let everyone know... not that everyone will read this ahahah) that there's also a fair bit of moderation that goes on through pm's. Whether its to the member or members of the problem post or topic, or to a fellow mod to discuss the best way to deal with the situation.

So even if we may seem quite on the forums, there's always a mod's eye out~
Thankfully we don't have too much trouble here anyway~ =3

edit: oh to add for the swearing, yeah I'd be against getting rid of the filters, like duckeh said parents could come here and see what their child is reading, or details for an event (to my knowledge some have.) Some members (I have read from posts on here) already have trouble convincing their parents to let them go to cosplay events. So for a parent it would be quite off-putting to see swearing on a forum with members their child might be meeting up with (specially if the child is a new member, or has a strict/protective parent) even if its just a few swear words.~

My friend tells me its been done better, since apparently whatever it is ties into your mal account and searches for whatever ep you havnt seen....but I did this mostly as a learning experience anyway. the fact that it turned out so well is a bonus.

Would you like me to cook one up for you? Just let me know the shows (and day of the week it is released if you know, since it saves me having to try and figure it out myself) and itll only take me a few minutes to mess with, package zip and email ^_^
