Contacts or nah?

Contacts can be pretty expensive, and annoying... sometimes the last thing on the cosplay to-do list.
But then if you really want to look the character... specially if the character has unusual eye colour~

I mean you could always photoshop eye colour in photos right?
It may not be the same ~~and you can't freak people out with crazy coloured eyes~~
but still... whats the point of buying them when you may only use them for one or two cosplays?

What say you?

I usually get colored contacts for my cosplays that call for them, unless the price is ZOMGHIGH 8D
Orrrrr if they don't come in power high enough for me. ;___; *is blind*

Of course, it doesn't particularly matter, because in most hall photos, you can't actually particularly see eye color anyway, and for busts and headshots you can photoshop eyes in. xD

It depends on the cosplay or your eye colour to begin with.
-Wearing coloured contacts if you have incredibly dark coloured eyes look really really fake and bad. Better just to photoshop. (it's more likely to be expensive to buy decent contacts too.)
-If you have allergies I don't recommend getting them.
-But if you have light coloured eyes it's good to wear contacts.. not as expensive either cuz you could buy cheap ones and it would still work well and you can easily get the colour you're looking for.
-If you have the same eye colour... don't get them. But that's kind of obvious. XD

I beg to differ on this ^^;;;
I have dark brown eyes, like, seriously dark dark brown ones, and last year I'd gotten a pair of blue contacts and a pair of purple. They weren't hideously expensive, and they looked pretty natural-- the blue pair in particular looked really good. A lot of people thought that that was my real eye color when I wore them to school at the beginning of the year.

I have seen really bad ones. I have a friend at school who has really dark eyes and she wears green contacts. (they're a natural green) They look incredibly fake. I've seen my share of fake contacts. I'm just trying to prevent that happening again.. But there's no harm in trying. It's really up to your own disgression, I guess. XD
If you can find decent ones that won't dent your piggy bank then by all means get them. Very Happy

Aha, yeah, sorry. xD; I am aware that there are some that look really fake though, I just wanted to point out that there are contacts that people with dark eyes can wear that look fairly natural.

I would only wear them if I really wanted too, say my Saturn one I am getting purple contacts for her cause it will look awesome =D

I'd only get contacts if I planned on reusing the cosplay a few times.

Like, I'd be tempted to get red ones for my Umbreon, also because I'd be able to wear them with Fuujin.

When I went to Korea I got some grey circle lens for my cosplay, but next time I go I'm planning to get some brown ones. :]]

I wore contacts for half a year before I got too lazy to clean them. I still have them, though xD. I only wear them when cosplaying and for Halloween this year because I was going to wear an eyepatch (but in the end didn't ...).

I mean, if you get a standard pair of blue, then you can re-use it for most characters in the anime world: it's a good investment. My current collection includes purple, red, black & blue. 8D;; yeah.. I'm detail obsessed.

Then again, I have light eyes & very good eyesight, so I can just get the disposable ones & not have to worry too much. sweatdrop

I have naturally green eyes, but for characters with green eyes I'll probably end up getting some dailies anyway - they emphasise the green & will make it stand out.

If I'm going to do a cosplay, I might as well do a good one: I'm one of those people who don't have very many cosplays, but the ones I have I try and make to the best of my ability so I can be accurate & rewear them. If I didn't put so much effort into what I made, and only wore each cosplay for a day & no photo shoots: then yeah, I'd probably not bother with contacts.

What's the price on just colored ones? I did look at getting some proper contacts for V since it's pretty hard to wear glasses behind that mask, but I suppose if I did one that just needed different colours I could always put the glasses on when I need them.

It totally depends on just how much effort you want to put into your cosplay. For me if I had the money for it I'll definitely get some but I'm only going to choose the ones I like so I can use them during normal times XD this way I'l be happy and it wouldn't be a waste then

I have a collection of colored contacts that i use just for fun. but will also bring into my cosplays in the future, and they're never too expensive either. The most costly side is buying the cleaning tools.

My eyes are green/blue/grey. They like to change Dx. I used to notice it alot when I wore my contacts everyday, but no longer do because I don't wear them any more xD.

They mostly stick on green though. Or green and blue. The green and blue looks very cool, too >3.

I would like light blue though. It's one of my favourite colours. (Baby blue?)

I wore pink contacts for my Ichigo cosplay, & I'm really glad I did, I got a lot of compliments for them, & it just tops off the cosplay. Very Happy

I think, for me anyway it would really depend on the costume.
If it was eyes like Itachi's then definitly!
If it was something I had spend A LOT of money on, then yes, to make it just a tad more accurate.
If it was a really simple costume, I probably would just so I could make it more interesting.

Otherwise... can't be bothered ^^;

My eyes do the same too 'o' Mysterious blue eyes!! It's cool though, they change depending on the colours I am wearing/around. Funsies!
