Hiya! ^_^

I have never cosplayed before, ever! Shocked

Always wanted to but until recently I didn't know that cosplayers even existed in New Zealand let alone Christchurch! *Gets shot* I always thought it was something that people only did at Armageddon, you know like halloween or something. xD

But at the last Chchgeddon I was lucky enough to run into some really cool cosplayers and get the link to this forum and I've been stalking it ever since! o.O Just never really had the guts to join until now but here I am! ^_^

I hope to cosplay at Auckgeddon but with my lack of sewing skills that might be a problem Embarassed

I'm still going and I hope to meet some more of you guys there and hopefully here too! ^_^ *Vanishes in a puff of smoke*

But anyways, you sound like a really cool person, and glad that you gained enough courage to join our group and the Christchurch Cosplay club.

ahh struggle with sowing as well, hopefully everything turns alright so you can attend Auckland Geddon. ( Plus it means you can become Friends with the Auckland group, and Christchurch !! )

Uh...yeah...about that, when I mentioned lack of sewing, I meant that I cannot sew AT ALL! xD I've never worked a sewing machine in my life (Home economics at school doesn't count as it was too long ago for me to remember anything! xD), heck I wouldn't even know how to thread a sewing machine, let alone use one! xD Embarassed

So I plan on seeing what I can find in op shops, I've chosen Misa from Death Note as she has at least three cool outfits which are easy to throw together. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than the character costume I wanted of Ebay! D=

I think there should be some sewing tutes online, I remember a few craft and clothing tutes at the threadbanger forums. *learned how to make a hoodie, go me!* I'll.... edit with links, or something. 8D

That's not really much of a problem, I have help from my mother who can sew, but I also help put with the sewing process, because I do actually want to say that I sewed it to a point. In any case, most of my stuff is closet cosplay, modifed closet cosplay or commissioned. The only stuff I've actually cosplayed with items of clothing I had to sew up from scratch are the ones I've entered in comps.

And don't look down upon intermediate school sewing classes! That is where
I learned to sew, and the only place where I sewed before beginning to
cosplay last year. (and I'm at uni now... so that's a five year gap.)
