Just a quick warning. Given the recent series of headlining crimes involving air rifles and the sort be very very careful with any props you own and how you handle them.

Do not wave realistic looking weapons about and especially not at people who aren't expecting it, save posing for photos (they happen often enough as members of the public do like taking photos) and in secure environments. Just be sensible and think how your actions are likely to be taken, not how you want them to be taken.

Yes what's happening in the media is an extreme however given the publicity of these incidents the public is going to be more cautious, and will not react so positively to guns being waved about.

The contest rule involving projectile weapons especially is not going anywhere. No exceptions.

That's a valid point - I might make an announcement of your post, if you don't mind. I was bringing a $2 shop gun as a prop for one of my hall cosplays but I might not now.
