So. Um.
I PROPOSE A CAR POOL.
From Auckland TO WELLINGTON. YES. EIGHT HOURS. MAYBE MORE.
BUT THATS PART OF THE FUN.

Also~ We pick up people from other towns/cities along the way? Sounds like a good ideaaa? YES NO MAYBE?

So. Who can drive?

We'll share the petrol money~ Rental cars/vans? ANYBODY GOT A VAN WILLING?

And and and we'll have multi-way radios AND ANNOY THE HECK OUT OF EACH OTHER (if we get more than one vehicle)

SO? INTERESTED? It'll be more fun than a bus and cheaper than the train ;D

but flying is a lot easier driving and i think it works out that its cheaper as well not to sure about that.
my last road trip down to welly wasn't a good one either sad

Sure it is a lot easier. But. I do think its more expensive. Because if maybe a whole lot of us share the petrol money it would be cheaper than paying a flight each person.

Lol. My dad has a van that can seat three people and is giant at the back 83 (He does couriers) Dunno if he'd be willing to lend it to some crazy people for a weekend though o_0

I have one word that you should keep in mind when making your arrangements: LUGGAGE.

Make sure you have room in the car/van for everyone's luggage. Or you will have some sad, sad people.

Sad and clothingless people.

And not in a good way.

Just on a sidenote, yeah, vans can be pricy, especially since most of them have a 150k limit on the number of k's included, and then a per k price after that. Another option to consider is to just do something on the return leg. Quite a few rental co's end up with a surplus of vehicles in Wellington due to people dumping the cars and jumping on the ferry on foot. So you might be able to get some cheap cars as part of their returning vehicles back up the country type thing.

Worth considering anyway.

Could also consider trying to group bus down or group train down. Even if it's not in cars, it's more fun with more people.

Hm. I hadn't planned on going to Wellygeddon....tbh, the thought hadn't even crossed my mind.

When is it? If I am going to Auckgeddon, is there much point?

But, if I do decide to go, I can drive, tho my car can only seat 4 people and luggage, myself included.

I'll be in Uni by then. But its a weekend, so that not a huge deal.

I think this depend on the state of my finances when it gets closer to the time. As you may have notice, I am a bit of an impulse shopping, and when I get the impulse, I shop BIG.

But, assuming I can afford it, I'm in.

Don't you need someone older to rent the van due to insurance??

If so, im old(er) so could probably be the driver, and I dont mind driving, and I'm used to driving huge Transits for work.

Just an idea...

A big minibus could take like 250-30 people. so if you split the cost that many ways it should work out cheaper.

Also, I have a sedan which can take 5(ish)
