| IMPORTANT! Venue spot has slightly changed!
It's moved!!! ....... to just across the road from the old spot lol! After seeing how many people were interested and that are coming to the picnic (cuz dear sweet pokemons I was only expecting a handful of Aucklanders), we shall all meet in front of the gazebo inside all these nice huge shady trees. It's a bigger area with no trees standing in between us but all around us instead. Also standing in front of the gazebo gives us a nice 'stage-like' area for our games and is very hard to miss.

Auckland Cosplay Christmas is fun and laid back picnic get together in the park to share food niblets, play games, take photos, chat and get to know each other especially for new cosplayers and veteran cosplayers alike!
Cosplay whatever you'd like, even christmas theme! Cosplay is encouraged but if you just want to join us in casual then that's fine too!
The Wintergarden in the Auckland Domain is the venue. Click the spoiler to see the map of our current meeting location:

- Date is December 14th on a Saturday.
- Starts 11am and ends 4-5pm. Then you can go off and come back to the Domain later if you wish to attend Coco Cola Christmas in the Park at 7.30pm.
- Currently an Invite Only event via facebook(but that's only because we don't want creepers  )
- PM Rinelle Kung(Organizer) to get invited on facebook. Those that are invited can invite their friends too and chat about their cosplayers and groups.
- That's not to say we can't keep track here as well for those that aren't on facebook. We can have a list of those attending/maybe attending here too.
- We're having fun little Christmas and anime themed games with Christmas candy, chocolate and anime prizes ;) Participating in these games is entirely up to you!
- Feel free to post here to discuss what you'd like to happen or if you have any questions, or even send me a message about this!
Timetable so far:
11am - Meetup, socializing, photo taking
12pm - Lunch, socializing, photo taking
1pm onwards - Games, games, GAMES!
Should there be the horrible RAIN WITCH, PM me your mobile numbers so that I can text you with updates! I will be keeping an eye on the weather with updates at least 2 days prior to the event.

To make it a little easier for those that haven't been to an Auckland Cosplay Picnic before... or the Museum or Wintergardens in a while. Us organizers visited the park just last Saturday and the flowers are in full bloom, nice green grass, trees, simply perfect for taking photos! So it's advised to wander around and take photos from 11am to 1pm before the games so you can have fun winning prizes instead of missing out.

- Inner link(green bus) can be caught by Britomart at bus stop 7018 - Customs St East.
- Stop off at hospital, walk until you see the big yellow concrete gates with two statues on it to your left. Walk through them and keep walking. Take the first road on your right and walk until you see the tall artistic metal tree-looking structure on your right. In sight will be the cosplay picnic.
- Those with a car, just follow the signs. There is parking all around our spot, come in early to get a good spot close to the picnic.
- An outer Link can be ridden to Auckland museums to reach the domain but use this bus if you know where you are going.
- I’m not going to spoon feed you the rest, Google maps is a very useful tool and I recommend using it so that you have a visual guide of how to get here.

1. Ho Ho Ho Contest!
- Anyone can enter to have a chance to say "Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas!". The most entertaining ones win prizes.
2. Scavenger Hunt!
- Can't be anymore specific than that yet
3. Cosplay Quiz Battle!
- Cosplayers in a Good vs Evil in a battle to win prizes for your team and show off your anime, game and movie knowledge and demonstrate your fighting skills!
4. Cosplay Bingo
- Fill out your cosplay bingo sheet with your team as fast as you can to win!
5. Group Improv
- Creative? Like Role play acting? Teamwork with random strangers? You'll need these for this particular game~
6. Santa's Delivery Race!
- Race around the domain with your team and solve riddles or complete activities to get all 5 pieces of the items that Santa needs to complete his Christmas Delivery!
- Food List:

- This is non optional. It's been stated from the beginning that you must bring food or snacks to share at this picnic.
- It does not have to be EXTRAVAGANT food, simple FINGER FOOD is advised such as these items which have been brought for past picnics: muffins, cake, apple crumble, caramel slices, cookies, cupcakes, pizza bread, sandwiches, sushi, etc. Make sure the food is sliced or cut into pieces before you bring it!
- If you must bring a knife, make sure it's SMALL and PLASTIC! Preferably those disposable ones that can't do damage if someone handles it incorrectly.
- Everyone coming must bring one food item PER PERSON which means if you have +1's, make sure either you or they bring a food item as well.
- We will have a mat or tarp laid down in the center of the picnic spot for everyone to place their shared food item on.
- The food you bring MUST be covered, either in an air tight container or wrapped, just something the winged wildlife can't peck at.
- Bring your own lunch to eat yourself or with friends, the shared finger foods are just the extra.
- Bring your own napkins as they will be useful when picking from the shared food selection.
- DO NOT LITTER! Put all trash you have in the bins nearby OR in the black trash bags that we are providing. We are tidy cosplayers and again I must stress that we want to leave a good impression when we're out in public.
- And final thing, if you're coming to the picnic then please reply to this post with what food item you shall be bringing! Let's try to bring a variety!

Of course! What is a picnic with a lot of cosplayers without some events, especially christmas themed?

| I'd like to give everyone a big thank you from all us organizers, myself, Brier and Kyle for coming to our Auckland Cosplay Picnic 2013! This was the first time that we've ever planned an event like this, so things went well, some things didn't go as well, we ran out of time and couldn't get all our games done and those with cars got kicked out before 4pm instead of 4.30pm.
But all in all, it was a fine and sunny day, we had a very good turnout of cosplayers and people showing up and lots of food and games and prizes! A few things that will be changed for the next picnic is that we won't hold it on the same day as coco cola xmas in the park, we'll start the picnic earlier and kick off with a game to break the ice, we'll be MORE organized and confident and we'll change some games since we know what everyone likes to play now.
If you have any feedback regarding the picnic with what you thought of the event, your favorite part of it and something that you think we can improve on, please feel free to tell us so that we can make the next picnic that we hold better and more improved! |
