Sona Cosplay Help Please~ <3 By stocking_chan. 30/10/13, 05:20 pm |
| After much humming & harring, and going back and forth between ideas, I have (FINALLY) decided on my cosplay for next year: Sona from League of Legends.
- Here is the splash art:
I intend to handmake my costume so I can enter the cosplay competition.
But this is where my friends come into it. I'm not the best at sewing, so any tips & advice as well as possible patterns for the dress are very appreciated.
I am planning on using Worbla to help make the ethwal (her instrument), but I am not sure where to get any from. Also, I would love if anyone could help find pattern for the dress so I can go about getting the material for it.
This will be for Christchurch Armageddon 2014, so I'm looking at having this done my March -finger crossed- |

| I don't know about worbla, but I've seen people getting wonderflex from trinity treasures - http://www.trinitytreasures.co.nz/Products
would be amazing if you could get the strings Sona plays on to light up too! |

I have found 2 possible dress patterns, since the dress itself just looks like this. Was thinking of using pattern BC from this or something similar. |

| If you are after worbla there are two places online where you can get it at a reasonable price
http://www.coscraft.co.uk/3-thermoplastics <-- this is good if you are after the large sheet, their shipping is very cheap (unlike most other places that sell worbla). This is where I have gotten my worbla in the past and their shipping is quick :)
http://aetasvitae.bigcartel.com/category/worbla-s-finest-art <-- if you are after and extra large sheet (or more) these guys would be more cost effective. I havn't ordered from them myself but I know others on this forum have.

Thank you~ How much Worbla do you think I'd need for a project like this? I don't want to order too much or not enough. |

| For something so big, have you considered using expandable foam, perhaps with a paper mache or cardboard base? You can carve it after it's dried.
Here's a tutorial.

| For lighting up the strings you can buy EL wire? :)
As for patterning & etc, how much sewing experience do you have? If you're use to using patterns probably just going into spotlight or something and flipping through the pattern books is going to be a lot more straight forward as you can see what is best for you. I would personally make her dark blue dress as a start and build the sleeves/wrap thing after getting that patterned. Breaking costumes like this down to layers really helps!
Good luck! KICK BUTT! |
