Accommodation in Auckland? By cumber-kitty. 24/07/13, 08:37 pm |
| I've never been to Auckgeddon before but I'd really like to this year. The only problem I have is cost of accommodation. I don't think I'm able to fork out for expensive hotel rooms or anything.
I was going to share a room with a friend, but she had to cancel her plans. Which left me stuck. |

| Good luck - pretty much everywhere is booked up. I rented a house for my friends and I and we ended up with 7 people in just a few days! |

| What I do is go to google maps, search the venue, then go 'search nearby' and plug in accommodation.

But yeah as Will said, most places nearby get booked up pretty quickly... If cost is an issue then you can try asking if people want to room with you, but I don't think I'd room with strangers, considering your age? (assuming that's your real age lol) |

| So Cumber kitty, you're fairly young which makes things difficult, but the only other thing I can think of which would be cheaper than just paying $100 for a room would be to look around for largish backpackers (ie in Town or in New Market) and stay in a female only room - that way you're reasonably safe and you can get cheaper accommodation. I would recommend The Base in Auckland (cbd) http://stayatbase.com/. Rooms will be about $40 a night.
Downside: It's miles away from the venue, so you'll need to catch a bus each morning to the venue, bus will prob take about 30-40min.

| Thanks, I think I might end up having to stay a backpackers by the looks of it. Wasn't too keen, but ah well. :) I've been looking at bookings and EVERYTHING was booked out in advance any where surrounding the venue (definitely going to book in advance next year!). |

| I tried to book at Abella at the beginning of last year and it was booked out - I think people are starting to book a year in advance :/ |
