Rubber Sheets anyone? By oujihime. 14/06/13, 03:15 pm |
| Just soooo curious as back in the Philippines, it has been cheaper for us to use rubber sheets / rubber sole (as Ouji told me) to use it our props commissions. It's easier to work on. Has anyone used rubber sheets in their props here in NZ? I have been searching online as to where to source these rubber sheets - still we have to check our local hardware stores here in Timaru but I have located a shop in CHCH where we can buy these sheets in bulk.
Any inputs is very very much appreciated. :) |

| Rubber sheets are what we used for making cosplay props, cutting them into shape and crafting them , basically this is somewhat similar with your EVA foam here - but the difference is in the Philippines we source these out as this has been really cheaper for us. More of the discussion about this here: http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=200164 Ouji mentioned that we shape out the details by using mini grinder to smooth out the surfaces, add details and make shapes, etc. This is one of our friend's video of his mini grinder (similar to what we've been using) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=4310614458102&set=vb.1669085433&type=3&theater

| Cool! I've never heard of using rubber for props but from your photos it looks like it works really well. Is it very heavy? |

| According the the cosplay page linked it is EVA. Remember it comes in different densities and flex. I used a fairly rubbery one to layer under all my moulds for storage.
Ahh, yeah, when you talk about soles it's not the rubber soles of regular shoes but the foamy flip flop type: http://web.archive.org/web/20100423050316/http://www.cosplay.ph/readarticle.php?article_id=68 |
