maid/butler/cosplay cafe for hamgeddon or auckgeddon would be pretty cool

I dunno, just a thought really~ *good god I sound like a pedobear DX*
the idea seems to be kinda popular in other countries for this kinda stuff and it seems like fun too~

then again there would be the problem of food... DX maybe a sweets and desserts kinda café would work~

anyways, just an idea, not expecting anything, your thoughts?
(just bringing it up because I was thinking about doing it with my anime club members in order to help raise funds for auckgeddon since quite afew of them really really want to go, and it's my last year reigning over as anime club president before I move over to auz)

I actually have a different but similar idea for Christchurch geddon. But it will have to wait till a few things are sorted.

If you want to know about anime cafes then ask Nadiah, or Shelby, or ??? You could also contact other places like Anisome, (also the maid cafe?) cons like Manifest, etc.

Anisome and the maid cafe or some other business may be able to suppy the food, you just heat/cool it and serve. Or make pancakes, something simple. Keep the menu simple.
Pancakes, savoury pancakes, ice cream, drinks, a little bit more?

If you want a maid style cafe, even one themed after an anime, or general anime, the ettique is to partition off the cafe, and ban photos. Hence I don't have photos from Manifest. But they did everyone in costumes from one series, and had a stage and did a couple of songs, etc., from the series. They also had a queue, and let people in as tables became available. Otherwise partitions, etc., doesn't matter.

I think the main issue would be actually being allowed to set it up. You'd have to ask for Bill's consent to set up a cafe at Armageddon and I'm pretty sure you have to pay for stalls too.

I don't think asking Bill for permission to set up a cafe as such would be much of a problem. Remember Bill is a geek himself, and will make concessions to groups who create the experience for the con. The two issues I think Bill will have to deal with is 1) Auckland has several food retailers there already, who are commercial businesses and unlikely to want to pay heaps to be there, then be undercut by amateurs. 2) Serving food in a commercial venue there may be food regs that you have to comply with. This is where Aninsome or the maid cafe or some other food business may be able to help you through that?

hamgeddon is small as it is, they had a huge as ban for bringing in outside food too anyways..

I was thinking of the same idea of CHCHgeddon as from the cosplay events that we have attended before, there had been some maid cafe and stuff. (eg. Vocaloid maid cafe - during Vocafusion, etc.) I am willing to give you support if this will push through for CHCHgeddon event! Should there will be a need for supplies for maid costumes, wigs and stuff.
We are also thinking of setting one up - just simple menu and stuff - but too complicated for us to start with since we're still new to these nz geddon events and we have arranged for our own wig booth for the Christchurch~*sigh*

But anyway~ this will be a fun-filled event if this will push through. *crosses fingers*
