Not a lot of threads for christchurch at the moment, only a few months out now! What's happening guys, wheres all of the excitement!

What are you doing / wearing / looking forward to?

I bought a dragon costume off eBay because my sewing skills suck, so hoping that's as awesome as it looked in the photos :)

This is going to be my first chch geddon so you can probably say I'm more nervous about going to a city I haven been to in over 9 years than excited.

My line up is
Sinon - GGO arc - SAO
Shun - Shinsekai Yori

I hope it is still quite warm cause Sinon doesn't wear much.

Hahah, Christchurch is beyond awesome. I used to live in Auckland, moved down here 6 years ago, never wanted to go back. Where are you staying?

I don't know if it will be that warm, but it should be tolerable inside the venue.

Haven't planned accommodation so far but I'll probably force myself upon some of my family down there, I'm sure they want to see me after all these years.

I'm hoping that my Musical!Eternal Sailor Moon will be finished in time!! If it is then that's what I'm cosplaying on sunday for the comp.

Christchurch geddon is just way too early in the year this year.... sadly, I'm not going down! sad

Though I do expect lots of good times and photos from the people going. Gonna be a blast! :)

I'm going! I haven't been to Chch since I was a kid so I'm looking forward to it, and it'll be nice to meet more south island cosplayers. I'll probably be wearing Aerith and Alice from Madness Returns :3

Honestly, I haven't even thought about cosplaying this year! Have just been far too busy with schoolwork. Still, might pull out my Kanaya (from Homestuck) costume for Sunday.

I will hopefully be Verity Carlo/Ultra Magnus (MTMTE holoform) from the IDW Transformers comics on Saturday provided I get around to finishing everything. On Sunday, fem!Ellis from L4D2.

So who got what as prizes in the cosplay comp? It was a blur for me as I couldn't hear anything. All I know is that Shinrii got best in show and I got best solo novice. Who else got placed/prizes?

The Aion cosplayer (white sparkly snowflake dress) and the WoW cosplayer (blue/brown/green robes with huge awesome staff) got prizes, but I can't remember who got Best Technical and who got Best Solo Open. (Also, I don't know their names, even though they were both cool and lent me repair supplies...awkward...)
And Rosanna won Best Skit (Elfen Lied cosplayer - pink hair/lots of arms/dance skills.)

That the white sparkly one Glenn? I thought they might have got something as I saw envelopes in their hands in photos. Everything from the comp was such a blur from start to finish, possibly because I was not thinking/nervous.

Yes, Kathy/Mischa, in the white, with the grey pleather bits on it. But I don't remember what she won.

I have the little list of glitter, I'll see if I can do this from memory though as everything is everywhere!

Best in Show: Shinrii as Haydee from Count of Monte Cristo

Open Solo: Kathy as Tac Offficer from Aiona (I know there is a word missing)

Technical Merit: Rebecca with her Tier 9 Night Elf Druid set (particularly her staff and use of textures)

Novice Solo: Calie as Eternal Sailor Moon from the musical

Novice performance merit: Rosie as Lucy from Elfen Leid.

Really lovely range of techniques and nicely used for each individual costume.
