I'm too old to play a perpetual teenager

Looking at the costumes at Armageddon and other gatherings prompted me to think about what I could do. It has been many years since my last serious cosplay, but I would like to kick-start the idea again.
Most of the classic cosplay is better suited to the teenage cosplayers (give or take). Except that I am now way too old to play a perpetual teenager (I have two teenagers of my own now!). Surely there are cosplay opportunities for my age group? I do have a budget of almost zero... but I do have a healthy dose of imagination and creativity. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks.

Maybe some of the older looking more series characters? (: rather than hyperactive teenagers. I think more serious characters are pulled off better by older people.

Maybe tv shows where the characters are closer to your age?

Also you could maybe dream up you own alternate "aged" version of that character. Would be a conversation starter at lest. Very Happy

luckily older characters are usually badass

There's so many mature looking characters though! Especially in gaming & comics. What do you like? :) I think most people can pull off a character if enough time is spent thinking about how to make it flatter you hand in hand with how to make it accurate/true to character.
