Cosplay Cards

What are they?
Business cards with your cosplay/online details on them. I believe they're pretty common in Japan and singapore? MAYBE America?

I know there's been discussion on it before on the forums, but I realised JVCA is making some this year as well as Tammy, Rowan and I as a group. So good time to renew the discussion?

I find I lose contact with cool people I meet during geddon if they don't come on here and sign up, so this was an awesome idea to me. {You know, now they're not going to ship in time that I've posted about it. Embarassed

}

Anyone else making some for this year? Gonna make some at some point?

I have planned to make some, have not done it yet...

Mainly so people can find their photos on my website. Its been annoying when someone asks for the photos and I can't give them a card.

Was mainly going to be used for overseas conventions though because in NZ most people already know me, are on CNZ or Facebook.

I will have them for next years cons...

I've received business cards from photographers before at a con! Definitely makes it easier.

Actually, I've just been reading about how sometimes they're treated like collectible cards. CAN'T DECIDE IF CREEPY OR AWESOME.

when i went to a con in LA, the cards were how cosplayers kept tabs on people who had taken their photo so they could see them when they were uploaded. i never thought about making them for myself, though o:

Yeh i was thinking of the same. Just not sure how much info to put on one.

Maybe just first name, name of the character and origin, and my e-mail.

If anybody needs a hand with design/templates im technically supposed to be a graphic designer Laughing

so a no-brain job for me.

My only minor concern is that i don't want to look like im some sort of official representative of the IP holder. That could be messy. pirate

I would love to collect everyone else's cosplay cards Very Happy

I think it's really great for keeping in touch with people you just had a good chin wag with, if they just tell me their online username I always forget by the time I get to a computer. I guess we all have smartphones now but half the time my phone is hidden in my boots or just left at the hotel so I don't rely on it.
I know a few people think you must be egotistical to make these cards but hey, convenience is convenience and I think they're pretty damn cool in general. I'd love to make some for myself sometime!

I really like what JVCA is doing with her cards! She's made a card with images of all the cosplays she will be in over the weekend to give to people/photographers, not photos, just images of the characters + her contact details.

What Tammy, Rowan and I have done is one side is 3 photos, one of each of us & our group name, then the other is our social network urls + a check out CNZ forum & url. I'm hoping to take some photos at geddon as well and upload them to our sites... So hopefully it won't come across overly egotistical? D: AND HOPEFULLY THEY BECOME COMMON PLACE, THEN I WON'T WORRY.

I'd quite like to make some, just as a bit of fun (I have most of you guys on facebook anyway 8DDD;; )

But if I go to an overseas con I'd probably definitely make some, just as a way of keeping in contact with people I'd meet (:

They're awesome things to have! AX was full of photographers handing them out, it's just so convenient and no awkward fumbling around for pen and paper to write down someone's details. Definitely nothing wrong with wanting to get in contact with people~~

And I'd love to collect everyone's cards!

I think what you put on them depends a lot on how you plan to print them - digital printing is so cheap these days that I guess you can have a new one printed for each con-line up.

I think it's such a neat, handy idea! Especially since our community is growing and I do find it really hard to remember who everyone is and connecting usernames and real names. So many new people!

I haven't made any yet... I might try and get some done but it's only a week until Geddon so XD;

I might try and make some of these for geddon if I can get these last 2 costumes finished with time to spare. They seem like a cool idea and as I'm terrible at remembering names and recognising people when they're in cosplay, could be a big help for people like me.

I'm already planning a bad 'Private Investigator' pun.

It would be really fun to collect cosplayer's cards! Initially I was not sure about the idea, but I love the thought of collecting them like Pokemon cards.

Another idea that came up on tinychat the other night, was having CNZ cards that could be distributed around so that we can hand them out to cosplayers who don't know about CNZ :)

We do have flyers for CNZ, but cards are a good idea as well... HRMMM. <: Although, you're saying anyone would have them? Would they just be things people print off themselves or something someone gets printed and distributes to people? Would you guys like the flyers to be open for people to print maybe?
