[suixelo's sketchbook] Don't freak out...
Post By Suixelo. 06/10/12, 03:59 pm

Heyhohi... So I kind of didn't cosplay at all for a whole year and now I'm easing back into it. My entire attitude toward it has definitely changed and I'm really enjoying what I'm doing! Yay~ chuu~!

Current projects:

[suixelo's sketchbook] Don't freak out... 73f22c

Super Sailor Saturn - Sailor Moon

As of 11/10/12:
- Am re-using the leo from my SS Chibi Moon.
- Collar done, just needs to be attached
- Wig done (Thanks Sylvie!)
- Contacts are on their way
- Skirt is pleated just waiting to be attached and hemmed
- Boots need to be covered
- Staff needs to be done but I have materials
- Need to do the rolls on leotard and on gloves
- Need to do the sleeves
- Need to do the bows DONE
-- Star is in pieces until bow is ready DONE
- Need to do the tiara

[suixelo's sketchbook] Don't freak out... 2ivczo1

Other Olivia - Fringe

This is my relaxed, easy, freak out over Sebastian Roche and ask all the Fringe questions cosplay. Not the outfit in the picture just a general Fringe Division kickass outfit. Becauseee.

As of 12/10/12:
- Using some army print pants that I have (that will fit me again in two weeks.)
- Have some boots that will suit
- Coloured singlet/t-shirt easy peasy
- Jacket still need to get from somewhere. GOT.
- Am using my own hair, have a fringe and will be assessing the colour fade of my current red to see if it will need dying.
- Show me (ID) needs to be put together

[suixelo's sketchbook] Don't freak out... N1fonb

Nia - Gurren Lagann

Comp! Pretty much almost done with this one. Chose it for comp because I wanted to try resin casting and work on the technical aspects of a costume because I felt I wasn't as strong there and didn't know how to use many materials or techniques.

As of 6/10/12:
- Sewing all done apart from the detailing on the back of the overskirt thing and the 'tie'
- Wig done
- All gold pieces done
- Big red gem resin casting done, need to cast green ones and small red ones
- Shoes covered in red PVC, need to finish with the white and gems
- Flower done just needs to be put together with the gem

And anyone who gets the reference behind my title... High Five Miss that show chuu~!

I won't be doing Sakura now because I didn't realise how bad my course work load would be when I made those plans ;w; One day I will cosplay her though! I have quite a lot of the stuff I need for it already, haha.

Just spent three hours covering my boots just to have to rip it all off and start from scratch. That frustrating point where you were going so well and then have a cosplay stress-out and realise that you are thinking completely the wrong way. Gesso'd the boots and will paint them tomorrow. Ahhhh cosplay. Forever re-doing things you did wrong.

So Auckland Armageddon is over and here are my finished products!

Sailor Saturn

I was pretty happy with this, it is re-wearable with a couple of touch ups. The boots started peeling as soon as I started walking and I got some advice from Michaela on what to do for next time. I also didn't do the glove puff things right and didn't have time to fix them before the con. I'm definitely going to re-wear this at some point with the bits mentioned fixed because it was super fun!

[suixelo's sketchbook] Don't freak out... 2wokf4k

Fauxlivia

Nothing much to say really, simple as! Had loads of fun repping Fringe on stage with Sebastian Roche and got my dream picture with Newton as Fauxlivia! I did misplace my orange shirt though and had to borrow my mums so it was a little big haha. Oh well.

[suixelo's sketchbook] Don't freak out... 2h5p2bp

Nia

(Ignore my wig falling backward in the pic haha it was the end of the con XD) I got a performance award in the Novice category for my skit! So happy! As far as the costume goes, I didn't take in the top since I lost weight so it looked weird. Also my skirt started to fall down on stage because the zip wasn't secure enough and unzipped XD The resin casting I was mostly happy with, the small gems could have been smaller and I need to find a better way of attatching them onto the costume. The gold bits I am sure wonderflex would have been more suitable for and as I bought some on Monday, I will be trying it out. It's all a learning curve though and I am definitely happy with my progress so far. It's always a good sign when you can see things you can do better next time! I can definitely re-wear this with touch ups and bits re-made.

[suixelo's sketchbook] Don't freak out... 2z587k6

I have two new projects underway,

Shana (Shakugan no Shana) as an easy, I've wanted to do this for ages cosplay. Currently only have the wig. Fabric will be bought probably in a couple of weeks once I recover from Geddon.

[suixelo's sketchbook] Don't freak out... 2ezp8rd

And Hikaru (Magic Knight Rayearth) as my competition costume for Auckland 2013! Yes I am planning a whole year ahead this time as this costume is challenging me in prop and armour making skills and scary flowing fabric, possibly gradient dyed? We shall see. I wanted to improve on my props and armour because, well, I kind of suck. So I bought some wonderflex and am going to play around with that as well as learning lots of new techniques to make everything in this costume the way I want it to be. I want to be proud of this one and I am aiming high! I now have two novice awards, one more and I am forced into the scary open category. So why not aim for best solo as my third novice award??
