Photography - Who Will Be Shooting?

Hi everyone
Thought I'd get the ball rolling and offer to shoot:

Final day - stage shooting of competition results
Final day (if Judges don't mind) near Judging area all entrants (will be a close portrait and full length shot)
All days - walkabout inside
All days - walkabout / impromptu outdoor (dependant on weather and accessible areas)

An industrial look can be obtained close by in the stadium area, but classic buildings are a good 10min walk away at railway station/parliament/Old St Pauls. So not sure of organised shoots at this stage.

I'm up for walkabouts both inside and outside for all three days - since it's my first year shooting and all I might as well give it all I've got. Stage shooting - it's a maybe since I don't know if I'll still be there at the times with all the cosplay events.

Any idea on how the stage will be this time? I haven't been to stadium in years. If I was shooting last year I could have relied on the stands above the stage/main seating or up close near the stage but I only have a vague idea of how the stage area/seating will be laid out.

Not sure of any organised shoots as of now, though it's highly unlikely.

Let's all hope the weather is great though for all three days! :)

I'm not sure of the stage layout. Typically, the cosplay event is judged and on stage on the final day, pretty much at the end of the day. A lot of people go home before this, but if you're based in Wellington then it may be you can stay around for this time (in Auckland we're on the road as soon as cosplay is over).

The stadium will likely be zoned into 3 areas - the outer zone between gates and the stadium itself will likely have outdoor activities, and food vendors with caravans. The second zone is the enclosed area surrounding the stadium, and can be thought of as a long circular hall. I would imagine this is used for paintball / tag, or far hall events like you see in Auckland. It also has more kitchen facilities. The innermost zone is the carpeted/box area, and I would think likely have a stage set up similar to TSB, as well as the possibility of breakout areas for VIP panels and such.

Hard to tell with no programme published yet (floor plan).

I dont know Welly very well, and I've yet to have decided which cosplay I will do which day, other than the competition, I'd love to have a shoot on a non-comp day!

Yes, I've been really curious to see how the floor plan turns out! Guess it'll be published a lot closer to the date - probably soon since it's almost a month away. If everything was set up similar to the TSB then I'll get a good image of it.

If I'm not wrong the cosplay event on the last day was somewhere around 4-6PM? If it's the same, then I'm highly likely not to stay even if I'm a Welly based. Seeing as the amount of homework I'll get done over the weekend when Wellygeddon is on is about zero to none and I have a lecture + tutorial 8AM the next morning xD Though I'm sure you and any other CNZ photographers will have those events fully covered :)

Oh and I might be replacing one of my days for some videotography - haven't decided yet what day though xD
