[COMMIS]Little-Noise commissions, costumes and corsetry By Static. 07/01/12, 03:39 am |
| Update 17/4/12: Hi all - costume commissions are currently suspended until further notice! I plan to resume them later in 2012, but right now I am not accepting any new costume jobs. Corsetry commissions are still going full steam ahead :)
Hi everyone - I'm Static, and I like to make costumes. I also like to make costumes for other people! I've been cosplaying for ten years now, and sewing since I was a very small girl. I take comissions for costumes, design original costumes, and also design and make steel-boned corsets. I've won awards around the country for cosplay, including multiple Best in Shows and the Trans Tasman Cup with my cosplay partner in crime. This is not my full-time job - so commission slots are sometimes limited, depending on how much free time I have :)
PLEASE NOTE: I do not give quotes over PM! I can't keep accurate records that way, so please email me if you'd like an esimate on a costume. Details on my website - thank you :)
Examples of my work - more available on my website Here are some examples of my own work:

…and here are some examples of commissions I've made:

- Spoiler:
When you commission a garment from me, you get a custom made garment from a highly experienced costumer. Your costume will be fitted to your measurements, be made of quality materials appropriate to the task they are performing, and you can stipulate any details you'd like changed. If you would like something made in a certain fabric, I can (usually) accommodate. The only things I don't tend to handle are prop weapons, shoes and wigs - though I do do accessories and bootcovers on request.
My required time for any costume commission is three months. It often doesn't take this long, and I have never missed a deadline…but, expect the unexpected! I have had shipping delays, and sometimes things do go wrong - like that one time I ordered sweatshirt fleece and got sent some weird craft print with snowflakes on it. I'm not even joking.
To give people an idea of what my quotes look like, I've put together a very basic pricelist of what certain items cost for me to make. These aren't full costume quotes, but individual items; costume prices will vary, and the best way to find our what a specific costume will cost is still to request a quote.
This list is a GUIDE ONLY - individual items and costumes will vary, this is just to give you an idea. This figure covers fabrics, notions, drafting patterns, and my hourly rate. The biggest factor in my prices is time - things that take longer to make are going to cost more.
PLEASE NOTE: I am not Taobao or Ebay. I do not make ready-to-wear costumes as a rule, and I definitely do not work in a sweatshop! For this reason, my commissions will almost always be more expensive than costumes you can buy online. If you have a tight budget, let me know - I can at least tell you whether or not it's feasible. :)
All costume quotes give a materials vs. labour breakdown, so you can see the division.
Shipping is generally $15 - tracked courier, and is included in a quote.

| Hey I am looking for somebody to make a corset. I have an unsusal body shape, so are you able to make one suited for my body shape cause I dont want to feel uncomfortable. It will be my first time wearing one. so any informatio you could give would be most greatful. If you want any its fine to.
I made a thread but didn't have a look first cause I was to nervous to ask. |

| Hiya - yes, all my corsets are custom fitted, so unusual body shape is not a problem at all! :) If you have a look at my website in the corsetry section, there's a list of styles and prices, and customisation options (different fabrics, beading, trims, etc). I can also make them a little longer or shorter, depending on your preference!
When I take a corset commission, you pay 50% deposit before work begins - you can pay in instalments, that's fine; I just don't begin the job until the 50% mark has been hit - and take your measurements and go from there. By default, all my corsets have a three inch reduction on the waist, but this can be reduced for comfort no worries :) |

| I really hope my measurements were correct. I found it hard to measure with my body shape. With the fabric, I noticed that the photos have three different fabrics? do I need at least 2? |

| Not at all! One is fine - that will be the basic (face) fabric of your corset, and for the binding at the upper and lower edges, I can either use the same fabric or different. Unless you want a really specific, fancy binding fabric, the binding is included in the base price :) I tend to use satin, as it adds a nice little bit of shine!
Have you sent through an order? I've just seen a form come through from the website, but it's incomplete - no name or details! If that was yours, let me know and I'll grab some more deets :) |

| I'm sorry, I don't make gloves! And by that I mean I can't - I've tried! I would like to be able to offer custom gloves one day, but not yet. Sorry! |

| Definitely ask Vefalasiel - I think she might do stuff on commission? Super talented lady regardless, so she's a good person to ask! |
