Melbourne Supanova 2012 April13th-15th

I just realised I was free on the 14th-15th (in Australia) and after some frantic credit card action, am now booked to go to Melbourne for Supanova.
This will be my first non-NZ con, so I thought I'd ask and see if anyone else was heading this way?

Ofcourse, now I've got to do some last minute cosplay organization, despite leaving all my gear in NZ sigh

I have been to a Sydney Supanova nad had a ood time :) Met loads of cosplayers and even stole a few for our contest, mwahahah.. just kidding. But it was good to get to know people :)

Melbourne events are cool. I love Melbourne in general though :)

@kagerouhi- Asham and Anna I might be able to recognize, but not so sure about Cescat and K-chan. Will say Hi to them if do run into them though.

@neimhaille- I am looking forward to it, though I hear Melbourne is great for shopping too. It will be cool seeing the reactions from the Melbournians to all the cosplay.

Overall the con wasn't as big as I thought it would be.
Auckgeddon is by far bigger and better- heck they didn't even have many gaming booths.
I did a full tour of the place in 2hrs and didnt really feel like staying.
The big pull though, are the celebrities that they get to attend- unfortunately I didnt feel like waiting in line to see them. Also, you had to line up to attend any of the celebrity panels, or mainstage events. Yeah, me and lines are not compatible. The cosplayers were a friendly bunch, but sadly I didn't get to see any of the big name guys, that had been to NZ in previous years... couldn't find Asham or Anna.

Though I did get to see the 2 people I wanted to the most
1) Brandon Sanderson- legendary Fantasy author
wrote the Mistborn trilogy and The Way of Kings,
and he's also my number 1 favourite author.
After chatting with him really easily for 10mins- he is my fave for all time!

2) Tin Man Games- they make the Gamebooks Apps for iPhone, iPad and now Android.
They're an upgraded version of the old "choose your own adventure" stories. And they
gave me a free copy of one of their gamebooks as well as a peek at their Judge Dredd
gamebook coming out later this year.

4) This TinTin cosplayer- my favourite at the whole con. He was carrying his prop version of snowy around with him, then when I asked for a photo he put him down and got in this awesome pose!

All said and done, I didn't mind spending less time of the con, because that meant more time for me to explore Melbourne... and that was SUPERB! But probably off topic for this post. I surely will go back to Melbourne, but more for the food and shopping, than for Supanova.
