[WGTN] Moving to Wellington, want to meet?

Hello, I'm Ry and I'm moving to Wellington to study on 18th February. I'm from Thailand and I wish to continue cosplaying once I'm here. I'd love to meet you guys, maybe for cosplay or just to get to know y'all.

Unfortunately I can't take most of my cosplays with me to New Zealand. I have large props and most of my costumes are geared towards warmer climates so I might not be able to bring most of them. I'm only bringing one or two this time (one being my Barnaby Brooks Jr. cosplay), and then the rest could be shipped to me later if i need it.

Anyway I'd love to know what it's like to cosplay here. Also which anime are popular and which characters you want to see so I know which costume I should ship to Wellington once there's an event.

My costumes are
1. Barnaby Brooks Jr.: Tiger & Bunny - This one i'm bringing anyway
2. Akaito: Vocaloid (original outfit) - I will probably bring the wig and scarf
3. Kaito: Vocaloid (original outfit) - I will probably bring the wig and scarf
4. Abarai Renji: Bleach - This one has a large Zabimaru as part of the costume. Though it's my signature cosplay, it's hard to pack.
5. Hisagi Shuuhei: Bleach - Even larger and heavier prop... impossible to bring anywhere
6. Kuchiki Rukia: Bleach (prisoner uniform) - I can't bring this one, too thin, i'll catch a cold wearing it
7. South Korea: Hetalia (crossdress version) - high maintenance
8. Hibari Kyouya: Katekyo Hitman Reborn - with this one i'm worried cause i'm not sure i'm allowed to bring metal tonfas to events.
9. Takasu Ryuuji: Toradora
10. Shimura Shinpachi: Gintama (Yoshiwara is Burning Arc) - high maintenance, if needed should be shipped later.

Anyway I'd love to meet up with you guys and learn more about cosplaying in NZ. We can contact each other again once I'm in NZ I hope.

Heya! I'd love to meet up! We actually have a picnic on on either the 18th or 19th, so if you can make it you should come! (although as you'll be moving that day I understand if you'll be too busy Razz

)

It's officially a cosplay picnic, so I'm hoping people will actually cosplay to it Razz

(we have a bad habit of not dressing up, haha). I'll be going as Kohane from xxxholic (hopefully, I've been a bit lazy with making it, oops).

The next Wellington convention is in April Very Happy

Also, Tiger and Bunny is veeeeery popular with quite a few of us! Razz

Vocaloid is always popular at events too, haha.
Other cosplay trends I can't really think of. There's always Hetalia cosplayers at conventions.

Pura: I leave on 18th at 19:00 so i probably won't be able to make it sad

Sucks though cause i'd really love to go with you guys.

And lol, yeah i can see that T&B is popular here hehe. And Vocaloid seems to be everywhere. Hetalia i can't bring though sad

Looks like with every where else, Bleach is no longer popular sad

I'm part of a Bleach cosplay group here, feels like we're one of the few Bleach fans left. I'm actually getting a 4th Bleach cosplay outfit soon too.

kagerouhi: Yes! Gintama rocks!!! I want to do more Gintama cosplay but I'm not sure when i'll get to. I have too many cosplays I want to do and no time to do them. Right now I feel like I want to be Kondo-san... even if i soooo don't look the part hehe. I want another Shinpachi outfit too, but Shinpachi cosplays kind of need a group to go with it, otherwise, like the character, you tend to blend into the background. (I love him anyway though)

As for the con in April... I'll need to do a raincheck on that. April is one of the few times i might be able to go back to Thailand to visit my family and i intend to go for a week or so so i might not be able to make it to the con sad

Totally could do a photoshoot with you as Kagura~ Planning to get more Kagura cosplays soon as well~

Really? That'd be great, i'd love a shoot with Kagura-chan <3 <3 <3 Then maybe I could have my Gintama cosplay shipped to NZ or something... but i don't know how fast and expensive shipping will be... I'm going home in April for 2 weeks but i don't know if they'll let the costume on the plane... my Shinpachi cosplay from Yoshiwara arc comes with a spear and bombs hahaha.
