Auckland Accommodation near the ASB Showgrounds

Flights to Auck are now booked for the event :) (This shall be my first Auckland event at the ASB Showgrounds).
Looking for reccomendations for reasonably/cheaply priced accomodation nearby ~or~ would it be better to commute from inner city?

There are a number of nearby Motels:

Knights Inn
Abella Court Motel
Epsom Motel
Parklane Motor Lodge
Cornwall Park Motor Inn

I have only ever stayed at Abella Court. Its not bad and they give you allot for breakfast (Though you have to pay extra to get breakfast)

It is a reasonably long commute, and several dollars each way for the bus.

Ranfurly Evergreen Motel is another one, although I don't think they have smaller rooms, only rooms for 4-5?.

In town I would find a group of cosplayers and get an room at the large backpackers on queen street. I forget what it's called.

Thanks for the suggestions, will look them up - looks like best option is staying in the area and not having to commute... saves any rushing around in mornings :)

I think Abella is the closest, and most cost-effective. The downside from my p.o.v is the shared iron. If there's a bunch of cosplayers staying there you may need to iron early if you have luggage jostled costumes. Or bring your own iron.

Abella or Epsom are the closest reasonable priced ones. Most of the others listed are within a 15 minute or so's walk.

Most likely - although it's also worth ringing somewhere even if it's listed as full. i've had that in the past. the online sites are only as accurate as they get round to updating, so if there's been a cancellation it doesn't always reflect that theres now a room available. ;p

Aww pitty that Abella is booked out for that weekend.
From what i can see, Epsom Motel has rooms available. They do have rooms that will fit up to 5 singles, making that just under $50/night pp (for 5) - saving $. Will give them a call tomorow i think and see what they say.

We deff have one of the rooms, haha!

Knights Inn is really nice, I haven't stayed there, but I did go to visit and chilled in there during the ball last year (because I couldn't be bothered going)

Epsom have rooms of up to 7, making it $35/night. Not sure if they still have rooms available?

Just gave them a quick call now, they do have a few rooms avail but most of the family rooms and all 1 bed studios are now booked.

Edit: They asked for numbers, so if there is anyone looking for a place to stay let me know. (or if someone else is looking for roomates)
Have myself + 1 friend am meeting who's coming down (hopefully) from northland.
