Hi,

I'm Karen aka MissMenolly. I've joined up here because of two things. I want to actually finish one of the outfits I keep meaning to wear at Armageddon and fail to :) Plus, I'm the organiser of a convention happening in Auckland over the weekend of the 17th, 18th and 19th of February and I would like to spread the word about the con.

The con's called BattleCry and it has a costumed Ball on Friday night (17th). We plan to have some actual ball dancing, and have a demonstration and learn some medieval dances, plus some sword fighting display, fire pois display and a costume competition. Any costume works, and I thought some of the Auckland cosplayers might be interested in coming along. It's $15 for a ticket.

Plus we have a Mad Hatters Tea Party and Picnic on the Sunday (19th) outside with games, flying kites etc. This is a free event, just bring along your own blanket and picnic and join in the games etc.

BattleCry is happening at the ASB Stadium, in Kohimarama beside Selwyn College (Not the showgrounds).. more info on the website www.battlecry.co.nz

In terms of costumes I've been working on a couple, one's a Star Trek (old school) outfit cause I loved the hair :) and I also want to do a Kaylee from Firefly :)

I've always wanted to go to a cosplay ball too. May I ask what time the events all begin? C:

The Ball starts at 7pm, and goes through to about 10:30pm. It should be loads of fun.

I've arranged that if you register for the Ball on the BattleCry website, then the Ball ticket get's discounted from $15 to $10. And you can pre-pay for that by bank transfer payment if you want. And if you do prepay, you will get a special raffle ticket for the weekend's raffle draw prizes which get drawn on Sunday. Woot! http://www.battlecry.co.nz/info/registration
