Raikou hood - too much weight! By Cinnamon. 15/11/11, 07:23 am |

Sorry for the useless mouse drawing (plus I'm not on here enough to know image use stuff bluhh) But that's a basic diagram of it. The two manes' attachments shown with dotted lines.
The issue is, the combined weight of the two manes drags the hood off my head while I'm wearing it. Since remaking the head, I thought the additional details etc. would counterbalance and pull it forward, but... nope :B
The larger mane cannot be moved because any other position would have bad support and effectively strangle me when I put it on. The weight is from the stuffing - I've used as little as possible, fluffed and tacked down for the shape, but still it's considerable and pretty heavy.
Any suggestions for solutions with this? I could put a strap on it of sorts, or else take more weight off the back by adding straps to the inside of the shoulders and carry it sorta like a backpack... what else?

| I can't really understand the diagram, but perhaps try pinning the manes upwards on your back, or some other way of attachment? maybe the backpack thing would work. |

| Have you tried using cotton batting instead of stuffing? It's really light-weight but still really thick so it still keeps the shape and is relatively cheap, I bought 2m of it for $6 and it's about 1cm thick when left alone but is about 3-6mm when compressed.
That's all I can really think of. Sorry if that isn't really that helpful. |

| I agree with Roc, if you pin/attach the upper part to your shoulders, and maybe a cord in the middle to the back of your neck(like on the hood seem) it should help with slipping and the weight problem. I would also pin/attach (maybe velcro?) the bottom part you your butt it should stop the top from choking you by slipping back, try and give the pieces a little bit of a bump so it looks like an 'S' from the side to keep the weight on your shoulders and butt and not on your head and back. I hope that makes sense :) |
