Star Wars group?

Heyas just wondering if theres a Star Wars costume group in auckland or if anyone wants to start one with me!

I want to go to the auckgeddon in my star wars the old republic Sith warrior costume...but id Like to tryn find some other people planing on going in star wars themed outfits to go with..I might be able to help with props and things for the day (lightsabers lol) Id love to help some people build costumes. Ie been planing on converting a few hasbro blasters into prop quality blasters (paint job,better leds,recharge port,speaker upgrade)

I would also like to have in costume dueling nights with the light sabers in a park or better sci fi looking location once a month or so..get geared up and have some light saber duels and photos....could be a lot of fun and maybe i could help some people embrace the force and build there own light sabers....buhahahahaa give yourself to the darkside!

OOOOOh!! Old Republic Sith??? From the trailer for the game???? I need to see this!

I should have Shae Vizla sorted by then (she is my next armour project) and I have my Sith Togruta I am definitely wearing at some stage:)

How did you make your lightsaber? Customised a MR or FX? Or scratch built :) I found it hard to find powerful componants for the electronics here to get a good light up blade but I do have plans on ordering some from overseas (which I hate, I should be able to buy local sad

).

ooh wow yours is amazing.....My suit isnt finished yet haha..i still need to make and figure out my undergarments...buy gloves and boots and make my bracers and knee and crotch protector..but i do have a bit of time yet.

And as far as the sabers go there complete custom built...the only thing in them premade is the soundboard which i completely rewire..and you can use any of the electronic sabers boards for pretty much.

The leds can be brought at ether jaycar or can be brought in through a nz site pretty easily.....have to keep editing this as i read a few of your posts and saw your blue lightsaber with the arcylic blade... looks good but your right it does need a brighter led...ive started using 5w ledengine leds there really really bright..thats one deep red led in the shot of me below.

And the 501st is cool but you have to follow there strict rules and you cant be your own character...im making a sith warrior costume...not "darth malgus's" etc....mine will be the costume for my own toon in the swtor game. I dont think id fit within there strict guidelines. I think the 501st is great id just like to be able to cosplay my own characters is all and they dont allow that. my sabers wouldnt be allowed in there and i could build replica sabers...but everyone else builds replica sabers...and all though i like them theres millions of them..so i try to build one off lightsabers...at the most il do a tribute :)

Maybe we could start a swtor themed star wars group on here. when the game comes out its going to give a lot of costume choices. Oh and i joined up to swnz too :)

I see your sith costume is a custom one too...I could totally use a vet star wars cosplayers help like yours :) your costume needs lit twin red sabers I know the perfect led to light them :)

So basically im using darth malgus's armour as a guide...I started with motorcross armour..I then got the bog out and a number of other things lol..it no longer resembles its former self at all...thats all my custom lighting on the chest and vetilator to and it has a voice changer with speaker and mike mounted in the ventilator.

I just got dressed up to show what ive got go so far...bear in mind that theres still most of the armor set missing as well as the undergarments..these are just black clothes i had and my bmx gloves lol

Check out that saber! its my best saber yet by a long way..it makes the ones in my sig look really really dull lol. It is for an upcoming competition which is why im covering the hilt haha il post glams of it and a vid when the comps over as per comp rules.

Yeah, I made my Sth Tgruta knowing it wouldn't be accepted but it was really fun :) Oh the Sith from Deceived may or maynot be acceptable over time. I know the rule of three is changing- so quality of references and canon aspects are more important). I think malgus will be an accepted character eventually. I know Shae will be as she has the three pieces of official licenced art :) but I'm just going to finish that project for meyself and see where i go from there.
Really looking forward to the game being released. Which is odd as my computer just does not have the grunt for anygames and most probably not for an MMO this complex!

My lightsabre did have a good, good led (Cree star mounted, should get up to 300lumen of light but it needs to have a driver capable to delivering the voltage and amperage that will fit in my hilt and the ones from Jaycar are just too big) so I'm going to look at rewiring that all up once I get a mini driver.

I had a really bad experience in the first Jaycar I went to and refuse to go back to that shop. The guys at the Newmarket branch though were good and SW geekery followed.

I used the two main sabre forums for info and worked back from there for my own :) Diffusion material..... hah. Cellophane ;)

Sorry for the late reply.

I have been to Jaycar today and found both a 3W star LED and a small driver. The problem is the 12V battery that you need to supply the power which is way too large.

The catalogue also mentioned something about a LED board with three LED's mounted. Not sure how much larger they were?

Although I have more space than a lightsaber I also have a sound module to fit in too. Any suggestions for smaller batteries/lower voltage small drivers?
