Ugh. Curse them! (Need Wig Help) By Rikki-Leigh. 01/08/08, 02:17 pm |
| My list of "Future Cosplays" now includes a majority of the FFVIII characters so I need so pre-planning on what wigs to get for them.
First up is Zell Dincht, Martial Arts specialist When I do him it will be his Garden Uniform and yes, I will be learning how to do his entrance for a hall presentation. (I will, at some point, do his casual clothes if only because I love his t-shirt)
To keep them both together...
Watch the video because it's just easier xD

Next would be, slightly predictable, Irvine Kinneas, the sharpshooter. (God I love this guy) His hair is almost like Reno's in a slightly demunted way and I love his outfit.
Again with the videos...

Next would be Quistis, though she wouldn't really be for a little longer. I mean, look at that uniform. I doubt I'd have a figure for that any time soon... But I do like her casual stuff, so I may do that sooner.

Fourth is Selphie, because of her whol kooky and outgoing personality. I love her hair as well. It's so cool. I will only be doing her uniform, because I hate her yellow dress.

The one I am planning to do for Auckgeddon next year would be Fuujin (because she got absolutely SLAUGHTERED in KHII) and I wanna make her weapon xD Sadly, there are no good videos of her, so I managed to find some pictures.
It's hard even finding fanart of her since most people draw Fuu (KHII) rather than her original, because many people who know Fuu don't recognize her as Fuujin.
At one point I wanna do Seifer, but I'll do his KHII version, because I like it better for some reason. That won't be for a little longer either, since I wanna make his struggle bat. xD
(for those who don't know: http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=gKOyxwvX9tU )
Ho sheet. Big wall of text...
Have fun ^^ |

While this is not something I've ever done, and only read about, putting a wig up into a style like that will be tricky to get right, since wigs aren't designed to go up like that (usually). The wefts will show, as far as I know you can fix this yourself by adding wefts (also not something I've ever done) to bulk up the wig, you can by pre-sewed wefts from cosworx now, so if you're getting a wig from there, I would suggest getting a colour that has matching wefts available. Speaking of colours...
I've had a look at my new look colour ring, her hair is quite a goldeny blonde... there are 4 colours that look fairly good, one is '19' it almost looks a little dark, but then I have a wig in '22' and trust me, that is far too blonde. The next is a wee bit orangy, as it is the auburn '27' the next two are a bit funny because on the colour swatch I can't tell if they are blends (even distribution of different coloured hair to make one colour) or a two tone (like, one colour and highlights of the other) but these are '25BC' and '2500H'
They are colours of wigs which use this colour chart (half those colours aren't on there... ) http://www.cosworx.com/pages.php?pageid=7
Oh, speaking of which the 25BC is named 'Honey Golden Blonde'
(Another thing I highly suggest is getting a colour ring when you make your order, or finding a store which has them and being nosy, like minifies heh)

I am sure there is at least one wig from cosworx already in that style, and the only colour I can see that would match is possibly the '27' auburn
Just be sure to not get the colour charts mixed up like I did the first time >_< and be warey of what colours people on cosplay.com have said their wigs are or the lighting which the photos were taken in.
Anyway, goodluck ^_^ |

| About Quistis: I haven't gotten around to seeing about how people have done her yet. I'll do that later on and ask them about it.
About Selphie: The only wig the comes to mind is the Flip wig (too lazy to go find it) but, from what I can tell, it's flipped the whole way around, where as Selphies is only flipped at the sides. |

| You may be best simply getting a straight wig of the correct length and putting the kinks in yourself with either a good quality hair straightener with heat settings (don't burn your wig) or the hotwater method, or/and hairspray |

| I'd probably use my hairstraightener since it has such a wide range of settings. On '1' it can barely straighten my fringe, and thats going over it a heap of times xD |

Yeah. Totally cool enough to double post...
But I have found myself wanting to cosplay Riku (KHII version, in the end). Any suggestion on the best wig (and color) choice for him? I know that the styling will take a while xD |

| No hair straighteners on wigs! You'll melt it~!! The Irvine and selphie wigs shouldn't be too much of a problem, you can buy Flippy wigs from Katie Bair and Cosworx for about 30USD. For Irvine, just get any longer wig and leave the front bits out of a ponytail, trim and curl them a little bit with a roller brush and a very low powered hair dryer.
...I wish you the best of luck with Quistis and Zell, because they will need lots of work! Also snap on the Fuujin thing, I've been meaning to do her for years lol. A secret wig from Cosworx is probably best, with one of the grey/black colourways...or maybe a white one and then dye it.
One of these days I will actually finish playing FF8... |

| Actually, you can use straighteners on a wig - you just have to use them on an exceptionally low heat - like, the kind of heat most straighteners can't do. Just make sure you test the straightners first. :) |

| Really? That must be some super low heat...that's so weird, I wonder if that's the whole reason straighteners like that were made? Doesn't seem like that amount of heat would do jack to human hair. Cool! |

| My hair straightener was designed for really fine and easily destroyed hair xD Plus it barely did anything to one of the wigs Becky was working on xD |
