Styling a heat resistant wig.
Post By ox0kristen0xo. 24/05/11, 10:39 am

Hi guys.

I need a long curly wig of a quite specific colour for a cosplay and found this http://cgi.ebay.com/Copper-Red-Hi-Temp-Long-Straight-Cosplay-Wig-/170492555750?pt=US_CSA_MWA_Wigs_Extensions&hash=item27b225f1e6#ht_2761wt_1053 It's straight, but it says it's heat resistant. I've never had a heat resistant wig before. Are they easy to style? Will the curls hold for a long time? And how easy is it to burn them? I don't want to ruin it...

Any advice is appreciated :)

if it's heat resistant, hot water won't cut it. you can use curling irons or straightening irons on it. if you're worried, test it on a small section of fibres in an inconspicuous location with your iron on low heat.
the curls should hold until you next apply heat to it again. i think most heat resistant wigs should be able to stand heat up to 210 degrees? i don't remember off the top of my head, but there should be something on the auction that says it. /too lazy to click

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, the auction says 200 degrees. When I curl my own hair I just use my straightener and twist it around, but maybe for the wig I should borrow an actual curling iron from somewhere or I might risk ripping the hair out of the wig.
Again, thanks! Info was helpful :)

nah, even just using your straightening iron will work, as long as you aren't looking for tight little curls.
