Overload - Do people cosplay and what is usually sold?

Yes, there is plenty of cosplay just like at Geddon. Last year it was "Doujin" Overload so all that was sold was basically doujinshi/fanart in forms of prints, badges, keyrings, hats and other collectibles. I dunno if they've changed the rules this year...I should ask Gene. I guess you're allowed original stuff too?

It's not exactly high-profile like Geddon. It's mainly for the artists to gather.

Fanart is frowned upon by elitist copyright people, but since its a small event, whose complaining? xD Doujinshi is unofficial media produced by fans, so loosely speaking its "fans' art" more instead of fanart. Take a look at some stuff by Hiyaku Studio and Jerry's awesome group Project Yaminabe! :) I think Gene (yay freelance!) is holding a table for people who want to sell stuff on the day, but the places are limited. ;)

People cosplay because its an anime-centric event. Which is tops for us because we can like...socialise, sell stuff and network at the same time Very Happy

Basically what Ravin said, people sell a variety of doujinshi, from basic stuff to posters, laminated paper keychains, to artbooks/manga to stuff like animation, plushies, polymer clay keychains, magnets and hats! (Kelsey Ketchum's hats are so awesome, btw. Very Happy

)

The original idea of Overload (or as it was previously called Doujin Overload - the Doujin being from doujinshi) was like a mini Comiket (or Comic Market) like they have it twice a year in Japan at the Big Site.

While I am aware that yes games are sometimes released at Comiket, Overload is still very much one of out younger and smaller conventions.

So no, no games as far as I'm aware. But plenty of fanart, doujinshi, figurine display and cosplay~

^ but I thought the reason they changed the name to just Overload was to include other genres such as gaming.

Perhaps. I haven't been very involved in Overload since it changed it's name this year. So I wouldn't know.

And I did say as far as I know. Which is up until last year~
